Goddamn Kahn!!!
My other half is a pro photographer and she just said "this guy is good!"
Mate, thankyou for taking the sweet photos you did, and for voluntarily getting in the way sometimes, and for posting a sweet photo of me hunting Smudge.
Hopefully, this will entice the extra we need to give the SPPL format a really good bash.
Again mate, absolutely awesome photos. Congratulations.

So I find myself again beaten, battered and bruised (shouldn't forget absolutely stuffed too) after another great Spec Ops day. Starting to feel a little bit more comfortable donning the camos and heading out into the bush to get shot at, though my performance might indicate otherwise. I thought it was an awesome turn out with plenty of old and new faces, and we managed to get pretty close to the starting line up for the SPPL styled game.
Might as well let it be known that I'm pretty certain I was the first player to make use of the hospital/respawn point as I was hit within the first 30 seconds of the game, so I had about 9 mins plus change to think about being less ambitious. On my long walk to the hospital, there was about a minutes worth of fairly energetic shooting, but then went silent for the rest of the time before the first respawn. This rule made it a bit easier to notice the ebb and flow of the game, as players new that if they took out an opposing player, there was a set time before they would be able to return, or if one of your team mates were hit, you had to start considering going to a defensive stance until they respawned.
I don't think there was too much of an issue of team imbalance, as it looked to me that everyone got their fair share of time at the respawn, but at times you could definitely feel the weight of higher quality markers of the opposition when the were brought to bear. Communication seemed to be a big issue, as it seemed that the team who stuck to their game plan, or who could get a number of players to respond in unison to an unexpected change in the action were the ones who managed to stay on top of the opposition. It was fun to watch the older guys having stand offs with each other (there was a suprising amount of laughing as the paint was flying) while the younger, more inexperienced guys found easy ways to get hit. Yes, I'm guilty as charged.
My favourite moment of the day was when Trent and I were pushing up the right side tape toward the enemy base. Not far from the enemy base, I was moving down into a gully when I suddenly found myself on the receiving end of a hail of paint from [turned out to be] Preacher. Figuring that he had me dead-to-rights, I heroicly stumbled and rolled up into the foetal position as the 'balls were impacting around me, and slid down into the bottom of the gully. Checking for hits, I found that miraculously (the sun's got to shine on a dog's ass some days) I had taken no hits, and should have taken the chance to get out of there while Preacher and Trent traded shots. However, I'm not the sharpest tool in the shed so it was only a matter of 2 minutes before I climbed to up the other side of the gully, where Preacher was to knock me out with a couple shots straight to the face. Up here for thinking, :thumbsdow down there for dancing :hammer:
I almost did a great job of further ingratiating myself with my paintball peers, when while defending our position inside the opposition base, I heard someone approaching from behind my position, and as soon as I say mask I let a shot off. Turned out it was Kahn with his camera (and bright red jersey), and it was with relief that I saw that I missed him by about 5 metres. In Kahn's words, "I'm glad you're a bad shot." Turns out Sniperwolf got him in the end, so I don't feel so bad.
The other big moments for me were: seeing wade actually play (well, I didn't actually see him in action, but I knew he was walking around with a marker  ); watching the smoke grenade go off at the fort and watching Dave hit Preacher with a paint grenade; being the first hit in the fort defence and watching the rest of the guys defend for their lives; and battling through the last game of the day - thought the guys would be too tired but everyone seemed to put on some of the most intense fighting of the day :respekt: .
Big ups yet again to all the boys of Spec Ops, in particular Big Gav for continuing loans of gear (won't last much longer :evil ), Fatcat for trying in vain to get me to use my head on the field (apparently "move back Will" doesn't mean "run to a bunker even closer to the guy with the marker shooting 10 more bps than yours") and congratulating me on my foolishness regardless, and Godfather (got to remember to call Pup that now) and Julian for putting on a good performance even though they were a pair of hung-over fiends.
Can't wait til next Spec Ops day. See you all then.
P.S. My luck is at least constant - my Profiler got here a day after my first club day, and today I got my package from Special ops with my new harness and other goodies. Anyone who say my make-shift harness would understand why I might be a bit annoyed at this, but next time I will be loaded for bear.
And it might sicken some, but I decided to go with my heart and not my head in picking my first marker. I am going with the A5 even though the Ion might have been the slightly better overall option. Guess I will have to focus on making it work for me so I don't have to regret it and envy the guys playing on the fun ends of their Ions. Have some plans for my own set up for the A5 that's a bit different to everyone else's, so people will know it's definitely me missing them by more than a metre and cursing to high heaven. :yell:
Happy paintballing! :D

Sniperwolf. the snap shooter at the photographer!!!!!
someone had to do it
i hit just to the right side of the lense.
Awesome day, good to see more airballers out there, no doubt Gav might of had something to do with it. At times he can be more convincing than Big Kev.. Who knows, round 3 of 4play in the bush perhaps? :evil
The Southern Alliance boys will have a hard force to compete with in August, the only things we need to work on is -
* Sticking to the gameplan (Working in close ties with each other which we talked about during the break)
* Communication
My two cents.
Cheers

Yeah it was a great day. We had many new faces in the crowd this time and alot of the regulars were missing due I guess to the changed date. Either way that means there are more players now than ever for our club days.
The old Black Reign hands and me have had a great laugh and been chatting about the day, you see all the most rememberable games for us have come from the bush fields. We rarely talk about a SupAir game but we talk about bush games from years ago and the ledgendary move or game. They had alot of fun on Sunday, granted it is hard on the body and it takes alot of effort to get up those hills but hey thats bush ball.
Tips
Bush bunkers have gaps and the more you move around behind a bunker the quicker you get spotted due to your moveing sillouet. Sit still and move slower to have a look quick movements catch the eye.
Don't try and fight it out to soon. Lots of times on sunday players were getting isolated and stuck in bunkers only to be eliminated. Try not to get to commited until you have a fair idea of where the bad guys are in your area. Stay back alitte and shift positions often draw their paint and get a feel for where they are then organise yourself and teammates to push on. But try and have players that can shift to adapt the plan. don't have all your players trapped in bunkers and move as often as you can.
Bush ball hasn't taken a backwards step and the growth has been greater than I would have expected. To be honest I am disappointed that the industry as a whole hasn't been more active in this side of the game in Australia. It's been a real wake up call to me.

July 16th huh? Hopefully I will have my a5 sorted out by then. God bless the bank letting me have a higher credit limit - they are so thoughtful:kiss: . Nothing possibly could go wrong with that... could it? :hammer:
And I don't know who shot me on the leg on sunday, but I won't forget the shot any time soon. I got the worst bruise on the inside of my leg, it's cancerous. I'm one more shot like that away from donning a full body, michelin man body armour suit. Sure it will make me a big girl, but at least it won't mess up my pastey white complexion.

Also the Wombat is battle proven and we are now putting the finishing touches to the 2nd generation while my poor southern cousins are yet to build their first:rofl: but all that aside why would you say something as hurtful as a "toast to victory with tooheys New" carn't we us a good beer:beer:

Yeah, that must have been the one off :D . Guess we should be happy that there's proof you actually managed to be right side up for some part of the day. :bundy: Drinkin's bad, mmm-kay.
As for the mid-shots of me, hopefully my look at the camera says "come get some, bitches!", as opposed to "maybe it's not too late for diplomacy - why can't we all just get along? "
