After almost a year of R&D MACDEV are proud to announce a new marker that will expand the company into new boundaries!
http://i94.photobucket.com/albums/l91/eddahenry/Side-view500.jpg
The Tactical Drone is designed from the ground up for the scenario player who wants performance at a reasonable price, this is not a sear tripper! the gun is quiet, smooth and very efficient. there is no cast or cheap plastic parts, the body and frame is machined from solid billet and annodised in a satin black dust.
New pat pending drivetrain allows for easy access with only one moving part to service. The new gladiator has also undergone a major overhaul to give unmatched flow and recharge, this is now also the easiest reg to feild strip for service and incorporates an inline filter to reduce an chance of debri entering the system and causing problems.
The platform allows for almost limitless possibilities of add ons for the player who wants bolt on options.

New MacDev Marker: Tactical Drone
For years now MacDev have made high end markers for use in tournament paintball. The designers at MacDev have now made a new marker specifically designed for use in scenario paintball.
Construction
The Drone is CNC machined from solid Aluminium billets, without castings or cheap plastic parts, you will receive the same quality expected from MacDev high end tournament markers.
Pneumatic Drive
The Tactical Drone is based on a simplified, valveless version of the popular Droid marker of 2008, however it has enough changes to the drive system to make it a new design in its own right.
The pneumatic drive is fed by the next generation of inline regulator, the new Gladiator RX2. The new inline boasts industry leading flow, recharge, reliability and ease of maintenance.
Electronics
The board inside the Drone is based on the Cyborg RX electronic platform, however programming and feedback is achieved via a chameleon LED housed in the rear of the grip frame. A powerful microprocessor achieves lightning fast firing response and allows the user to access fire modes and select fire options.
Limitless Potential
Add-ons for the Drone will give almost limitless combinations and customisation to your marker, the Drone is the perfect platform for your ideal scenario machine-gun.
Key Specifications
Length,Width, Height (with Barrel) 475mm/225mm/45mm Power 9V Alkaline
Weight (with Barrel/no Barrel) 1056g/961g Barrel Thread AutoCocker
Propellant Compressed Air/N2 Included Barrel 12" 0.693 bore
Air Efficiency 1400+ rounds per 68/4500psi
The Tactical Drone is tentatively set for release at the end of July 2009.
For those interested There will be a fat dude in camos at Camden paintball this sunday showing it off
Come down and check it out
http://i94.photobucket.com/albums/l91/eddahenry/Side-view500.jpg
mods maybe we can join these two threads together on the drone?
we are looking at a retail of $799 for the base drone, there will be bolt ons such as 1/2 and full picatinny rail shrouds and extensions too allow longer shrouds and many other things!the RX cyborg OLED board will drop straight in and the grips just need to be changed to allow the OLED to shine through the window.
jewbag this is a new drivetrain based on the droid patent but much simpler to give you a reliable, robust drivetrain that is very simple to work on.
we have recieved heaps of calls on this gun today cant wait to start shipping! glad to see the excitement building, its hard keeping all these secret stuff to ourselves sometimes i feel like i will burst!

You have been busy James, well done Macdev another great Aussie product.

You will find it's not a driod with clip on parts, far from it.
Has it's own new designed drivetrain and they are saying in the states these are half the price so will wait to see the cost.

Sshhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.......... do you even read the crap you write?
Has Macdev even said this is a high end gun or are you just assuming ...again.
If you wan't to know if PE are going to make one get on there web site and ask them as i am sure non of them read Bills.
It's all been said before so your not letting us in on any secrets...there is not much more can be milled from a gun so of course they will look simular.
This gun is designed to be low cost low maintanence that is very upgradable if you have the spare cash ie. add ons for the rails, upgrade from leds to oled.
But the point is you get a great marker thats is going to be able to keep up with the baller who has a budget, and can also style it to look more milsim than the other modern tourney markers.

We have been, (Australian's) have been shot down in many of your bushball markers, eg TM7,SP1, SP8, etc and now X7 and A5 need to be shipped as different models MM1000/CFM just to get them into the country
Good on MacDev for bring bushballers another option. As many bushballers are moving to electro/torney markers, easy on paint more efficent, lighter. The Driod give us all this + the name of MacDev, made in Australia and if there are any issues you can ring up the guys that made your gat. Now how about that

Correct me if I'm wrong buy that stock is a T2W air-thru from SpecOps. Therefore not a MacDev design. So therefore a moot point about their design creativity.

I know but to have a back stock has to be attached via the asa
which is a bit "meh" better if you could attach on the back like on the tippmans

Those bolt on parts aren't MacDev parts. It does go to show that the marker is compatible with currently available accessories...

Anyway, the grip is the same as the "handle", it is just that grip is the proper term.
The stock is not a Macdev product, the gun is.
Why would they design a new way of mounting accessories when all the stocks mount the same way?

17-06-2009, 04:34 PM
yeah dude it was pretty light, i dont think u and i have ever met in person but those who know me know when it comes to actually knowing fukall about the gats i'm usless, i have absolutly no idea how they work or what the dif is, only the spool and the stacked look dif, thats as far as i know. I own a couple of droids and a couple of cyborgs and i couldnt tell u one single thing about how they work, what im trying to say is i wouldnt have a clue exactly how heavy it is in grams but i think it weighed just a bit more that the droid, it had zero kick and the thing that i liked most was it was sooo quiet, great for any type of bushball, stealth sniper action or explosive entry into the fort, the rate of fire was as good as anything i've seen and very acurate, i was very impressed with it.:armed:

rightio ladies, I have had an up close and personal with this bad boy.
to start with wow at the simplified drive train, it is simple, SIMPLE. i thought the droid one was pretty cool this one is amazing stupid easy
shoots nice heaps nice and to be honest the dirty bushballers dont deserve that kind of bps and ease of firing.
new glad reg is a farkin machine in its own right too, recharges in an instant even on an old borg and has also had the work over to make it simple.
all in all guys if you want an awesome machine of devistation to run around in the twigs with, dont look any further cause its here in australia already.

Can I ask - no - DEMAND that everyone on here realise the inherent STUPIDITY of posting pictures of "bushball" markers with modifications on them that are illegal in this country???!!!
Jesus christ guys!! We have enough dramas as it is without peanuts going and posting pictures of markers with bloody magazines on them - photoshopped or not!!! - and then that one from a peanut that I won't bother to name (the picture is on Page 7 of this thread) with a COLLAPSIBLE STOCK ON IT!!!
Shit! How many times do we have to go through this crap!! :hammer::hammer::hammer::hammer::hammer:
The marker sounds really good MacDev. You don't have to put rails and a shroud on a gun to make it a "bushball" marker though. As long as it's construction is solid, easy to service and clean and will be robust enough to stand up to the crap we dirty bushballers put it through, it will be worth the coin.
From the anecdotal evidence thus far, it seems that this is the case. I really want to try one now.

dude who cares if they're illegal, they look cool and people can post pics of whatever they want... go dob someone in to the cops for playing loud music u wanker
I give a shit if they're illegal. Pull your fcukin head in on this one ok?
I had someone show up at the field I play at over 2 years ago with one of these on the back of his A5.
Now, that was back before we had Customs say that you couldn't import the A5, but then you can, but then you can't etc. etc.
I asked him how he came to acquire it, and he was lucky enough to have this delivered to his front door by a very well-known and respected international freight carrier.
It is still that simple.
The point here is that we don't need any undue attention drawn in areas where, in truth, it is not warranted!
I realise for fcuk sake that the picture could be from anywhere. This whole interweb thingy allows you to gain access to content from anywhere in the world. Who would've known??!
It is because of this very fact that we must be careful of what we say, do, endorse and condemn.
If it is as simple as annotating the image with some sort of identification as to where it came from, then let's all hug and kiss and do that ok?
Kaizer, to put this into perspective for you; do you want attention drawn to markers that have boards installed in them that allow, for whatever reason, firing at a rate greater than one round for one pull of the trigger?
Just for the off-topic record too mate, I love loud music.
To your implication that these look "cool"; are you attempting to intimate in a vicarious fashion that ownership of one of these would indeed be "cool" too?
Sorry for off-topic discussion, but when someone takes me to task, I will respond, and wear the consequences.
I think im lost, is this parliament house or something? Can someone show me how to get to billspaintball.com?

I think your post is more damaging than any picture. Asking if Kai is implying anything deeper in such a straightforward post means you don't know Kai. Which means you are a paintball scrub on a high horse.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Av7m_Pgt1S8
There would be a problem if people were showing pictures of their own markers setup with illegal parts, or writing posts about how to acquire such parts.
It was an innocuous photo posted to illustrate a point... you should have enough thrust to get over it
I'd like to see more debate as to our country's customs regulations. I find the policy arguments for the restrictions placed on paintball markers questionable at best.

Ok, Mr Hornet Driver,
You can call me an idiot, but the moment you go after Kai, thats war.
You are worried about a stock on a paintball gun.
You play bushball. Your whole hobby is based around war simulation, your name is taken from a weapon of war, your attitude is taken from a Southern American evangelist television program and I bet you have never ridden anything but a high horse.....
lastly, you are complaining about another guy linking a picture of a stock from a paintball gun.
Wow, kettle calling pot black.

we are running a little behind on the Drone production due to Cyborg orders, i will try my best to get a video of one up by next week sometime. we are trying to have all the shrouds and stock adapters made for the being ready at the same time as the release of the gun.

Off-topic...
Please remind me not to show you my collection then..............hehehehe:armed:
Relax dude!!!!!! - I was the one who wanted to see what stock aftermarket or MD's whould have available and was keen to see what fake mags people OS would make and retrofit. Nothing wrong with looking, just because we can't have it doesn't mean we can't look at it - get real man!!!!!!
How do you know that stock isn't glued in fixed?

now luke has a lathe watch out!
we have a stock drawn up and ready for producing, after the production of the gun we will start on that. it will look almost exactly the same as the stock in the pics that is adjustable. ours will be adjustable but set with a tool so it wont upset anyone.

17-07-2009, 03:03 PM
James, have you guys approached Customs at all about the legality of the stock? If it is in any way adjustable for length, then I really do believe that it is imperative that you do so.
If it is completely legal, then I will most definitely want one, but if the legality is dubious then I would hope that you guys would be checking it out before commencing a production run.

Please refer to page 2 of this document, specifically the last heading on the left-hand column and the fourth bullet point that exists at the top of the right-hand column on this page.
Yes, I do realise that this document covers importation. However if there are prohibitions around importation, one would think it is inescapably true that there would be similar, if not congruent prohibitions around manufacture and distribution of these parts in all states and territories of Australia.
James

you will need a tool to adjust the length so its not like you will be able to fold it up or adjust the length at the push of a button.
dont stress it!

the Laws are there to stop someone putting a Adjustable stock on a gun giving you the ability to conceal it than rapidly fold/slide it out into use. (IE guy walks into a store in a coat next thing Bam he has a full sized rifle)
this is what the M4 style stocks do you can adjust them with a push of the button.
Folding stocks the same.
Having a stock that has a bolt to SET the length of pull is not illegal
Its the same as shortening or lengthening a Stock to suit the shooter.
As long as it carnet be done Tooless and quickly to convert a weapon from concealed to Ready to fire there is no problems.
As long as the stock isn’t capable of making the Gun Under legal length there is no problem.
Look at the T2W stock
the length of this is adjustable but with the use of a Allan key
so is legal.
this stock wont be a folding, detachable, telescopic or collapsible stock. Its Lenght will be ajustable buy a allen key to suit the lenght of pull the user Desires

Well, I have to say that I'm not interested in the Drone because of the rails or the shroud.
The things that I as a dirty Bushballer am interested in is;
Ease of maintenance
Sturdiness when beaten up like your regular A5 or equivalent
Longevity
Accuracy
From what has been said thus far, the Drone ticks all the boxes here. Accuracy would come - I would've thought - from the simplicity of the action.
I've not shot a Droid, but from what I've heard and read, the simplicity of the action there gets a thumbs up for a myriad of reasons and if the Drone actions in simpler, then I will be hitting someone up soon for a go.
Already have actually.
Don't be so quick to jump to the conclusion guys that bushballers are all about adding so many modifications that you need a station wagon to get your marker to and from; we've been through that phase up here and we've learned the folly of this. Besides, with electros making a very strong push onto the bushball scene, who can afford to hump around 20 lbs. of extra marker weight??

If the drone is made from teh same lightweight alloy as the drone/rx I think you could bolt a beer fridge on the front and it'd still be lighter than the closest bushball markers in use (A5 etc.) At least thats for the ones i've seen/used.

Such as a
-Stock for it by Macdev - This is in the works.
-Barrels maybe - The Drone takes a Cocker thread, so I would assume that any existing Cocker-threaded barrel will be fine. There may remain to be seen some difficulties with the shroud and different aftermarket barrels, but that is a minor concern at this point I would think.
-Hopper - Yes, I do believe that it will take a hopper, and I do also believe that there are quite a few on the market that will comfortably suffice.
-chip - I for one most definitely hope that there won't be some sort of "chip" or "board" that allows ramping modes. If there is, then don't bring your ramped marker near my field! Remember, ramping is not kosher.
-Camo version - A lot of bushballers have the expertise or know someone that has the skill to be able to camouflage their own marker(s). Not a huge drawback if no camouflage-patterned Drone is run.
-etc....
Really, it's a brand new marker, with a brand new action that is not even off the first run yet mate. Give it a chance, and take a drive to whatever field near you has one to test and see what the base model can actually do.

It certainly looks like a pretty high quality piece of equipment, Bushy.
There haven't really been that many high end bushball markers released in the last few years. Can't think of any to be honest.
If its even approaching the (light weight of speedball markers. You probably really don't need a stock for it. All a matter of personal preference, but I have used a T2W on my Ego and it was more hassle than its worth.
I played the last D'Day without a stock and my arms weren't sore at all. I'm not the fittest baller out there either, I am breaking a sweat typing this now. :)
I'm not too sure why, plastering rails on a marker, classifies it as a bushball marker, though. Having said that I am not really sure what categorises something as a bushball marker anyway. I have been perfectly happy with my Ion and Ego in the bush. A bit of camo tape on the bits that might get scratched, and you are done. Again it comes down to personal preference.
How is the water resistance of the marker BTW?
Is there a rough figure on efficiency?
Now I'm off to find, and quote, all those Militia posts, on how great bushball is.... :P

Well I've always used sup-air markers in the bush and never had a problem. I think that bushballers are after the ability to customise, ease of maintenance and sturdy craftsmanship.
I think this delivers all those things, along with a high rate of fire and a solid company backing.
I don't really distinguish between "Bushball" markers and "Sup-air" markers, there has always just kind of been a massive money gap between the two. My sup-air gat works perfectly in the bush... in fact it's custom anno'd camo.. The Drone is a more cost effective approach for bushballers that may not want to outlay massive amounts for an efficient and high rate of fire marker.
Basically you're getting a high end marker thats sturdy, has a high rate of fire, is highly customizable, is easily maintained and comes with the backing of a well known Aussie company.

thats ok luke these guys needed some juice!
retail on the Drone is set at $799.00 inc GST
as you can see the standard shroud can be taken off and there will be three aftermarket shrouds available (full, half and grooved) the full rail is shown (4sided pickatinny) in the end of the shroud is a part which screws in to stabalise the barrel and allows another shroud to be mounted on it, so you can customise your look on the front of the gun.
all of the people asking what makes a bushball gun: we have been sponsoring several scenario teams over the years and we built this gun based on the trends we saw and what we thought would happen in the future. the Drone has rails for all the accesories the bushball guys want to mount and without them has a milsim kind of feel. it is not modelled off a real gun so it will not draw unwanted attention to the sport in certain countries (AUST etc).
the reg and drivetrain are simplified and beefed up to give maximum performance with simplistic operation.
couple this with a quite sound signiture, lightweight package and very accurate gun and we have every right to call this a bushballers dream gun!
there will be heaps of add ons to this gun on releasae and just after release, so hold on for some love!
unfortunately there have been a few hold ups in manufactiring (machine breakdowns etc :( ) but we are working through it and will have this released a bit behind schedule. as i have said in a prevuious post i will post a vid when i have some free time to do so.

dam wicked8 they are some serious additions!
we will be doing bannana style clips in the near future as well as a host of other things, the only problem is the legallity from state to state and country. i think you will like what the drone has to offer and the plus's are it is quieter, more efficient, has less kick and way lighter than a tippman!

here is some info on the new RX2 gladiator reg that i posted on PBN;
here is the scoop on the RX2 gladiator, not only does it have faster recharge and better flow but the bottom works is much simplified. it is easier to get into, holds the filter better (no accidental pinches unless your a total tard!) the adjuster and seat retainer are one peice.
on the top we have changed the piston dramatically which makes it easier to hold when lubing, traded out the bellevilles for a high grade high tolerance precision spring and the o-ring retainer is one peice.
all this makes it super easy to work on, more robust to ham fisted goons and in our opinion the best inline built to date!
this is an excellent upgrade to any gun wanting better consistancy, high performance and a trouble free reg.

all parts are at the anodiser and the internals are now coming off the machines, boards and solenoids should be finished as the anodising comes back to the factory. we are looking at a few weeks minimum............

Funny vid. I guess the drone must be so awesome he tagged all the other players in an instant, and he had lots of spare time to prance around showing off like that :bigparty:
Is that the stock you will be selling James? or is it something edda knocked up for himself? Is it adjustable? looks like a sliding CAR stock or whatever they're called.

do we have any more leaked mods???
James
28-07-2009, 07:49 AM
no more leaks for a while, edda takes up too much time in the factory and its disrupting production and my coffee breaks! that is similar to the stock we will be releasing, it will be adjustable but only with a tool, there are two diferent length adapters to cater for guys who want a really long setup or a short one.
as you can see by the vid the Drone is really quiet and low kick. the next bunch of teasers and vids will show just how simple and robust the thing is. the guys were shooting 6pods and hopper with 1k left in the tank!

Drop it in the dirt, kick it around and hit it against a tree.
I'm not joking; give it a really good bashing and show me it still goes.

oh it takes way more than that, if kaizer can use it and it still works when he hands it back i will claim it is almost bullet proof, we using military grade alloy now so it doesnt really surprise me ;)

yes ginger ninja all our machined parts are made right here, we have one of the best machine shops in NSW with lights out machining and some of the most up to date CNC machinery. so everything is designed and made in the same factory in Australia!

I have to concur. Those who have played with me know that falling over inexplicably is a vital component of my game, so the Drone gets extra points if I know it will still work after a face-plant or two.
Also, nice work on the video too guys. The moves on display were something I'd expect from a DNA splice of Scott Secombe and a special needs kid. Gold
adjustable stocks?? thought the stocks needed to be fixed or is this a state by state law? or by having a special tool it complies with laws?? It was my thought that all adjustable stocks where illegal. anyway, best of luck.

Once again
No where dose it state Adjustable stocks are illegal
Just collapsable/ teloscopic/ folding
in other words anything that can Quickly and without tools Extend from a concialable lenght (IE under a coat) to a full lenght of pull rifle
Ajustable stocks arent illegal hell i have a Macmillian stock on my 6.5/284 that has 4.5 inches of ajustment to help suit the shooters required lenght of pull
