Come on big gav, design ur own with what we have to built field with. List is on sappa r1 thread. I do like left one but not enough bunkers on break. only 5 for the 5 players. Right has 7 possibilities and would make for some great play especially down the right side.

Nice work Trent....guessing you won't be ale to jump bunkers...I think it is a condition regarding saftey and insurance

WooHoo.... I'll set up the barbie in the dead zone...who ever gets there first turns the chops.... :D

J if you need an extra bunker... make it the beer bridge...I'll run to it everytime... :D

Changed them a bit but 1 and 4 are my favourite. 4 is more open but the bunker with beam and brick would be ahrd to play without being able to jump the beam. One is more playable but a bit more up close and personal. Number 2 is just 4 with some bunkers rearanged to take into the fact you cant jump bunkers.

and Chris will be seen making a new world record run on the break of 80 yardsto get to his new bunker:D after drinking the bunker dry he located the other teams and staggered/ran through a firestorm of paint and reached the oppositions as well where he clened them out:D :bigparty:

I like number 1. It's better with a couple of big barricades, even grouping a couple together to make the big barricades, across the fifty, makes the games faster and rewards the aggressive teams.

Those 3 back bunkers would be fairly close to the back. 3 bunkers at start is plenty as others arnt to far and you can get 2 people behind a laydown cyclinder if you wanted to. 6 easy bunkers of the break and a few more for the more daring. Could possibly even make temple of the break due to cover between each end making game up close and personel.

Is it the ref's poor job to have to design the fields???

TRENT

someone has to. Not sure, i have nothing better to do at moment than do think up some designs of what we have available to use.

like WA GAV said the field will most likely feature a large centre obstacle made up of a few barricades to promote aggressive movement, the no jumping is a safety issue as all we need is some idiot, who is trying it out for the first time cos it "looks cool", running 1000 miles an hour jumping and folding himself up on the other side of his barricade like a bloody pretzel

I am surpirsed some of those guys from 300fps managed to walk away after stuffing up their big slides....looked like their spine was about to pop.... :(

If you don't have a snake don't try and make one! :hammer:

Have a couple of key baracades. :bigparty:

Use the baracades you've got as they were intended. Why build huge baracades from smaller ones when you could have a cool movement zone by placing baracades apart.

Give people a chance to make the next baracade, think of angles and baracade blockage.

I'd suggest looking at in 3-D either make a physcial model or electronic.

I'm sure whatever field you build will work but make sure there's a couple of ways to play it. :bigparty:

Deadeye
22-01-2004, 02:01 PM
I think 1 Snake is good. Get the other one and break it up, use the beams individually even, they would be cool to dive into, and the rest of the blocks or whatever use them against other barricades to make a few L's

How big is the field goign to be?

Length?

Width?

SHort is good, I don't have to run so far :bigparty:

Noooo, i love the bit on right. They feature tones on 300fps and look great fun and hard to control. It looks like they may actually use only beams down lenth of field and not bricks which frees up some more bunkers. It makes for some great action though down the right. Just watch 300fps and you will see why.

i love the snake type zipper thing on the tapes have played thema few times and they are so hard to play in and if somebody does it right they are soooo hard to shoot...they make the play aggressive and fast i think and that is the whole point of playing supair not just shooting heaps of paint

I think we can safely say there will be a zipper to play...

Generally its been the refs who are responsible for the field layout...which got me involved for Rnd 4 SAPPA,and the feedback has been good.I dont like to hear complaints of areas of a field that are unuseable ie.APPL Rnd 1 Adelaide,I like to see a field that can satisfy a team from either end they play.

Thats why 95% of my field designs have mirrored bunkers apart from the middle tapes.I have a 28 piece field design for the RPS field that is going to rock and promote smart aggressive play from anyone that wants to win and look good while doing it!!!

And since the SAPPA prez & ECLIPSE captain are part of the WELT 7-man team...I think we will get extra votes for my layout!!!!

Ah corruption,conspiracy AWESOME PAINTBALL ACTION,
come play SAPPA...YOU WONT BE DISSAPOINTED.

Your layout 4 is the best, just a little empty.

The hardest part is getting what you have on paper to work within the size restrictions. My Rnd 4 layout had a few pieces added on the day to make it more playable,it looked great on paper, but when we set it up some of the distances between bunkers looked crazy and needed filling to get people to move and use them.

Your guys didnt seem to have any problems,It was a pleasure watching FALLOUT rip through the field, the Victorian teams in general seemed to play the field far more effectively, using the design and tearing up all angles.

Most S.A. teams dont get a lot of SUPAIR practice unfortunately,we need to get more out for our training days.

The good part of ref's designing the field is then its new to all teams and no one has an advantage.
Alternatively the field design could be posted on the web prior!

The only time we ever play Sup Air is when we got to S.A, round 4 field design was cool, loved the aggresive nature of the dorritio's and snake was good once someone could get in there, I dont think anyone ever made it directly on the break(maybe people just need to run faster:)) I think teams that unfortonately cant make the 12th are going to have a nasty disadvantage at R4 sadly:(? any thoughts on that? I know most s.a'ers can just take the day off but interstaters would have to take 2 days off becasue one day of travel forall of u who drive. SO we will miss practice games but we should be able to walk the field Friday providing its still open at 5pm or 6pm.

The Pyrimid is going to be good because like at round 1 I think the centre of the field has t be the focus and the area people aim to control. Makes both teams go for it lots more bunkerings and lots more team work to keep players in and stuff.

Should have one soon a 7 man millenium one plus an X so we can have 7 man or x ball tournies:D got a nice flat venue for it to now. SHould be playing on it by end of Feb, might geta bit of practice in not that we need it before playing s.a muah ha ha

Yeah we are currently in the stage of getting a sup-air field. Problem at moment is an area to set it up.

TRENT
28-01-2004, 02:50 PM
Oh and u think SA are behind the times. LOL. We need a gun licence just to play paintball. Only time we even get to play is once a month at club day. In terms of Fallout practicing it was our 1st tournaments for 3 of us and most of us had never played sup-air at all.

blacky
28-01-2004, 11:17 PM
SAPPA's plan is to issue all teams with a field layout and hopefully digital camera shots that they can work through the night before the tourney to try and remove all that time spent pacing the fields in the mornings

TRENT
28-01-2004, 11:28 PM
Cant we get field layouts before tourney? Even if they change slighty it will help us interstaters who may not make it there in time for the friday.

Which Am team is reffing???

Unless we are changing for 2004,the refs should still have final say/responsibility for field designs.

I was asked to suss out the ANGEL field in NZ,see what pieces are available as I was told it was being used at the SAPPA.Plenty of CANS thats for sure,3 sizes! There was a wicked long snake but I dont think its coming with the field.I have a layout to use,2 SWEET centre pieces that will dominate the play....but without SNAKE,may need BIG rethinking!!

The RPS layout will go off,TEMPLE centre, small dorito middle-left tape,4 Brick Zipper(right-tape),joined with 3 Beams,1 Beam making a T-shape mid Zipper,4 Bricks surround Temple,Laydown Cans Behind,Large Dorito in front of Deadboxs,Standup Cans in 4 corners,4 small Bricks spread th left tape mid-field area....

21 places to hide,28 pieces to build,10 people to play!!

Just wait for the pictures!!!
It will make sense then....

How do I post the layout???

Or alternately.....approved designs could be posted with rego forms perhaps to Team Captains...

Have you see a laydown Temple Ninja they are awesome! Because they are so big you can have multiple people behind their or whatever, could make a stage for some nice double muggings:D Could make up for lack of snake just position the largest part centre still, none of my team mates will be able to jump that this time:p

The field in Hamilton had a laydown temple on the 50 tape.

It was my second position...if I could get there.
LOTS of paint being hurled my way. This bunker was a major key to dominating the field and provided lots of cover for guys ending games by going on mugging sprees that run longer than a SAPPA field!!!

With 28 pieces for a 5 man I don't know if you'll need to lay it down, their will be heaps of cover if the centre is designed the right way. Weather it gets layed down or not I hope it's in the middle not the tape.

I.R.Three
30-01-2004, 08:43 PM
Yeah, in NZ they had the temple laying down and I personally didnt like it. But hey, you cant please everyone. One game, Big Gav and I broke out to the same barricade on the 40, cuz I was quicker I side in the to barricade, so Big Gav just kept going and made the 50 on the break.. Top effort from the big Guy Total :respekt: ..
Also, Paintball Pete has already offer use of his snake (which is same as we used in NZ). Do we need it? Is PBall Pete coming down?
As for feild lay outs. When to Naughty Ninjas house last week and seen 6 or so designs. If they go with any of them, all that come and play will freak at how differnt they play. Similar to U.S.A style. Fast and aggressive or go home and dont play on Sunday :D
Also, which interstate teams are deffinatly coming. W.A or N.S.W
