Just out of interest, I was wondering how much pressure is against a fill nipple? Is it 4500psi or 800psi? Assuming its a 800 psi preset.

I would assume its whatever pressure is in the bottle, as the air goes in it and holds it in.
It would be the same as the pressure gauge and the burst disc (the hi pressure disc)

yeah, if the tank you're filling from is 4500 then its 4500 - plus the heat from the friction!

I probably should get to the real question. Can you use loctite to put a fill nipple on? If its hpa against it, though, I suppose that rules out blue loctite and red would be too much hassle to remove.

There are different types of loctite. The blue and read are thread lockers.....what you need is a thread sealant....usually the purple or brown liquid form or white paste stuff in the Loctite range. They are designed for pressure and hydraulic sealing.

Why do you want to loctite it in instead of using thread tape? I've never seen one come loose?

I use loctite myself. Nice thing about using loctite is that the install will look clean and no chance of bits of thread tearing off and working its way into your setup.
However, that's not to say thread tape is bad. Good thing about thread tape is it's cheap, no cure period so you can use straight away, so is great for on the spot quick fix.
If you do decide to go with thread tape...get the yellow stuff, not the white. The yellow has a high pressure rating and is thicker than the white, so won't tear easily and you only need to wrap it around the threads 1 time for a good seal.

Yeah 542 looks the goods.
From Loctite's website:
Loctite ® 542™ Thread Sealant
Loctite® 542™ is a liquid sealant recommended for sealing fine threads of hydraulic and pnematic connectors.
Is it hard to remove edda? What sort of pressures do hydro lines come under? Quite a lot I would imagine?
I have had a slow leak from my tanks fill nipple since the day I got it and just want to plug it up. The guys at MIP installed teflon on it, which seemed to plug it up a little but it's still leaking a little.
I also heard that loctite doesn't degrade over time, like teflon can. The first day I got the tank it leaked like a sieve, due to some teflon, caught in the fill nipple valve.

Easy to remove using hand tools.
I use Loctite 545 which is designed for tapered threads which is what fill nipples have.
Also, you don't need a sealer with strong locking...you only need it for sealing gaps between the inner and outer threads. The tapered threads of the fill nipple is what holds it in place as you torque it down.
