View Full Version : Macroline and fittings?
hi people, i was hoping someone can shed some light on the pressure ratings for macroline and the swivel compression fittings that go into your asa?
I went to my local air fittings supplier for these bits and got told that the macroline is semi rigid nylon tube rated to 625psi and the fittings are only rated to 300 psi and these are the highest rated fittings and tube available?
I am currently using a pure energy tank with a preset reg and i think the outlet pressure is about 800 psi so i don't really want to change over all the leaking bits only to gas up my marker and have it blow up in my face, cos i like my limbs and body parts!!
cheers

I work for a Pirtek Franchise and Andi's comment in the New Impulse thread has inspired me to do some research and here is what i have come up with according to technical data and information from my suppliers of nylon tube and push lock style fittings. It would be much appreciated if someone from either Mac Developments or another supplier could give me some information relating to this it would be much appreciated.
I have seen marcoline burst several times this year and twice seen the fittings just give out.
The highest rated Nylon tube in 1/4" that i can find is rated to 625p.s.i with 4-1 safety factor, and also the the standard PushLock or Pushfit adapters are only rated to 250p.s.i with the same 4-1 safety factor.
If a customer came over the counter to where i work and wanted me to sell them 1/4" nylon tube to suit an operating pressure of 800 to 1000 p.s.i with pushfit fittings to suit I would not sell them anything as according to me that is not available with my workplaces 4-1 safety factor.
I am not Privy to the specific Items that are being distributed in the paintball community, but from what i can get my hands on nearly all 1/4" nylon and push lock fitting that are being used are working outside of their intended pressure ratings.

Wow. Strangely enough, last training i swapped the braided line off my Black Magic onto my DM coz I thought it looked better. Now I have the safest marker at my Moama.
Cool:lol:

I was of the understanding that macroline / fittings used with paintball were specific to paintball because of their higher tolerances.
A manufacturer like Macdev would be able to tell you if this was true or whether the fittings/macroline we use is the same as what you'd sell over the counter.
Back to the Impulse though, I suppose the benefit of macroline is that it is the weakest part of a setup and if something were to go wrong, then the macroline would pop first which isn't a bad thing.

As always the MacDev team have gotten back to me nice and fast.
Seems they use a Brand of Hose that i am not a supplier for and also the fittings to match, both have an operating pressure that covers the working pressure of all low pressure and high pressure output paintball regulators

Yeah replace $1's worth of plastic hose to get your marker up and running seems to be the smart, easy and cheap thing to do.

I would put that as very good
as that means you dont pay much to fix it up and go shooting again
think if its not the marco that goes but something like
the LRP then you in deep SH**EEP
speaking of marcos think on the new Impulse with no marco if it breaks inside the amount of time and parts its gonna be to fix

The fittings that "let go" were the stock fittings on a 06 marker but a different brand/type to the ones that come on every other marker and can buy aftermarket. But yeah, its not uncommon to see/hear macroline burst - especially in summer. Hence I don't use black macroline!!!

He is much win and cheap fast shipping and his coloured fitting look the coolest and i have never had a issue with blowing macros or fittings
Only seen that problem with Regs with seat issues
Better to blow a macrow than explode a reg i recon

:confused:Oh its definitely a good thing. Less down time on a damaged marker is always good. And marcolineguy.com rocks and his delivery is fairly quick.
