hey guys,
i've got my application for a permit to acquire and i just have a couple of questions regarding it.
Firstly, What catagory is a paintball marker and its type e.g. Category A air rifle, etc. I'm guessing it may be category A (A1 air rifle) But im just not sure.
Second question is what do i put down as my reason to acquire a firearm?
If anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated. Thanx.

Category H for Prohibited Weapon and your reason is "To play paintball". Make sure you use a black pen.

Actually, just had a look and it doesn't list it as a category, just put in X in the box next to Prohibited Firearm and write Paintball Gun as the description.

Has anyone else got a white PTA recently? My first one was yellow but the one i got a couple weeks ago is white. Have they changed?
My first one was sent with the details of the gun to be purchased already printed on it, but this one doesn't. Can I choose a different gun and fill in the details myself?

the finer rules vary from state to state...... and my limited knowlegde is from QLD
but the boarder stuff should still be the same....
i'd say catergory A.... as catergory H is for handguns.....
but the best place for answers is your state weopons licensing branch of the police ( and not the local officer behind the counter)
things in NSW may be different but putting it down as a "H" or "prohibited weapon" sounds like a bad idea to me...

It is a prohibited wepaon in NSW. I am in NSW. I have 7 markers.
On our PTA you have to mark it as a prohibited weapon and add the description "Paintball Gun".

I was led to believe they would be filled in, but have never recieved one like that, and yeah, they recently changed to white. Might be cheaper or something, don't know, same document though.
Just a tip, money orders are processed quicker then credit cards, at least they were when there was a cooling off period.

by the sounds of it PTA's are very different in VIC... we are require to take them to a westpac bank to pay for and no cooling off period after you have your first... just processing time (mail, etc)

Major flaw in the system, no federal uniformity, just state hysterics.
