Yes you can try. There are not many people who will approve the bottle as they don't meet Australian standards.

We have Max Flo's and approved bottles in stock by the way.

They do meet aussy standards, they just need the stamp to prove they do. Try local dive shops as they will likely know somewhere u can get it tested.

i think there are less than 6 bottle manufacturers in the world, and most new ones in the USA and AU are Luxfer anyway.

And as far as i have found most Luxfor are listed as Dot-e 9634 or 11194 which is the AU standard anyway.

So no big deal.

If it wasn't the case then no commercial aircraft would be able to operate, nor any portable medical air units be used in Australia.

But its easier to find a lovely bunch of Blokes at APG to give you a more realistic price for their gear before you import anything.

Remember they have to "stock" and make money too.

Lets do a quick test here:

1. cost of the US item in AU $$, add 10% gst, add transport $90 minimum , add $35 for testing, give them 30% for profit.

so $350 for maxflo and 68.4500 ( website) = $472 +47.2 ( 10% ) = $520 + 90( transport) =$609 + 35 (test) = $644.20 +193.80 ( 30% markup) =$ 839.80 total

this assumes they buy at RETAIL prices $350 US for the unit which we know they don't.

so lets look at

http://www.actionpaintball.com.au/Shop/shopdisplayproducts.asp?id=3&cat=Air%20Systems

the Max Flow 4500psi 68ci complete is $925.00 List.

$280 more than if you brought it in yourself for $644.20 from the USA

This is based on a 43% markup - not taking into account their dealer discounts.

Give them a ring and do a deal. Should be at least $85 to bargain with, and remember you can ring and abuse them anytime !! they should love it..

But you will have a warranty and knowledge you are supporting the local paintball scene.

And a quick check on Customs http://www.customs.gov.au/site/text_only.cfm?nav_id=781&area_id=5&level_4_id=323&level_2_id=1&level_3_id=314#323 looks like there is no import duty

People, even if you import a bottle from OS and get it tested at a dive shop you should be aware that........................

It is still ILLEGAL to fill it unless it states both the Australian Standard and the workcover permit number on the bottle. (That's on an official label, not written in permanent marker!")

That's right, even though the DOT-E standard is EXCACTLY the same, little BIATCH we don't always have our "own stupid standards", but we do have our own rules to govern such things, it is Illegal to fill and will not be filled at an APPL event, due to Southern Comercial Divers not wanting the umpteen thousand dollar fine that goes with it.

All bottles sold by, Action Paintball Games, have both these labels on them meaning there is no question about their legality. Our bottles are Luxfer "Tuff Coat" fibre wrap bottles with a 15 year test life.

It is a little more expensive for us than dealers in the states (we only buy around 100 at a time!) so our "dealer" price isn't as fantastic as say Paintball Inc who buy over 10,000 at a time.

The beauty of my statement is you can check it with at least 2 sources, Luxfer Gas Cylinders (02)9830-0999 or Workcover (I only have the NSW number) on (02)4321-5000.

Dudes, just buy local..sheesh...for the sake of a few bucks, really. One phone call and it's on your doorstep, in test, fully approved and ready to go. And the biggest bonus is if you have any dramas you can get it sorted straight away with yes..another phone call and at worst you have to send it back..what..a week tops...try doing that with faulty gear from the states

Support the guys that try and support you and your sport.

Man...where did that soapbox come from ???

Guys let's head over to the "Illegal High Pressure Bottles" thread under spam to bring this out into the open a bit. Everyone needs to know this information as there may be serious repercussions for a lot of players.
