Hello everybody,

My name is Victor and i will be traveling to your fine country in February. I'm looking for a place to play at down there that is relatively close to Sydney.

I like to play pump and will be bringing my own marker, so i will like to play somewhere that lets me bring my own equipment.

Any recommendations?

Thank you in advance for your time and advice.

I hope you have checked the local laws regarding bringing your marker with you..

I would hate for you to get in trouble because you did not have the appropriate paperwork filled out on arrival.

I was reading about that around these forums.

Just from browsing, it seems like i'll need some special license? What's up with that?

If it's a big hassle, maybe i'll just bring some aftermarket barrels in whatever threads the field rentals are. That way at least i'll have a nice barrel.

You need to have a firearms license to own a paintball gun in australia as the gun is a prohibited firearm.

The best thing you could do would be to arrange with a local field (Action would be the best) to ship them your marker and have them store it for you until you can sort out your license.

Yes its a big hassle, You should read about our laws before coming here. Our laws are pretty strict on paintball markers and importing them. If your coming for a holiday its a headache you dont want. If your coming to live and its a marker you had for 20yrs it might be worth trying to bring it in to keep for its sentimental value. Other then that, sell it or leave it behind Id say.

I am not sure that a pump is a prohibited weapon, but you will still need a licence as well as a gun safe.

Not sure about the other fields, but if you plan on playing at Action, they have rental options, spend a few extra $$$'s and you can run with pretty much whatever you want to - They've got a lot of options like DM's and stuff

I like electro's but i like pumps a lot more. :P

And i'm traveling there from the U.S.A.

After talking to you guys, i think i'm just going to go with a nice rental package and i'll bring my own aftermarket barrels so that i can still make some nice shots.

from what i heard, barrel is also considered a part of marker, which is a part of firearm.

You need custom declaration (B709a) from NSW firearms registry to bring them.

You can check with them before you coming to be sure, might be you will be allowed to bring them, not sure tho.

best way to think of a paintball marker here, is its like owning a rocket launcher in the USA... sure, you can get them, but its going to be a LOT of paperwork! haha

That must really hinder the growth of the sport for you guys.

Plus, i notice the balls are pretty expensive over there. On that field you guys linked me to, a case of paint (2000) costs 320 of your dollars. :thumbsdow

Here in the U.S., a nice case of paint costs me 40 american dollars.

Anyways, i think i've decided to just skip playing paintball down there and spend more time partying down there. :P More time on the beaches, maybe.

Thanks for all the info, guys. You guys saved me a lot of trouble with customs.

P.S. The 13 is just there because it's my favorite number.

$320 is the price social players pay for a box, but I think bushballers pay almost half, and Tourney guys pay $70-80 per box...

Our laws do hinder the growth of the sport, but that's cool... Would rather tighter gun laws than more relaxed ones... Just wish authorities could differentiate between a marker and a real gun...

$70-80 a box isnt too bad for retail too... with the US dollar being 20% more valuable than the aussie dollar, your $40 paint is more like $48 australian, add in shipping on top of that plus a small profit for the field and you have your $70. (paint travels here from the USA and Asia in climate controlled shipping containers - i hear theyre expensive!!)
