Guys, I have an original tape from Travis of the last APECS tourney at Strathalbyn, South Aus last year...I want to get the VHS tape converted to a vcd so it will last a long time (it is one of the last tournies Andy Hookem played in with me) .
Can anyone help me out with this?
I am prepared to pay for the work so long as its a reasonable price...
Thanks, Neil

If there is no-one in Oz who can help you on that - I am pretty sure that we've got the technology over here in NZ to help. I know that we've copied videos to MPEG before.

If you don't have any luck then drop me an email, and we can arrange to get a copy of your original sent across, and see what we can do.

Alot of photo processing shops can do this for you.
You just need to ring around and find out which ones.
Most of them will be able to do VHS to VCD or DVD

if it's something you're going to do regularly, all you need is a decent video capture card, a nice PC and some burning software.

To get from vhs to vcd, if you want to do it yourself, you'll need a video capture card, or video grabbing capabilities with your video card. Dedicated video capture cards start from around $99, or if you are looking at upgrading your video card, you can pay extra for VIVO (Video In Video Out) capabilities on a range of the video cards out there now. (e.g. Ti4800SE VIVO $269 )

A cheap option is to pick up an older video card with the capabilities, I bought a TNT2 ultra deluxe with video grabbing last year for $50...

I bought mine for exactly the same reason - shifting a paintball tournament to vcd.

I was going to say "or you can ask Warpaint, he's a computer wizz, he'll explain it" but I thought I'd try to make it sound like I knew what I was talking about.:D

Have a look in the Yellow pages Neil.

There will be heaps of people who will be able to do it for you.

Get it put onto DVD so you don't lose any quaility.

If you've got some IT knowledge a pc and a vcr, I'll lend you the video card. (I'll have to check that I can find it though, I lent it to someone a little while ago...)
