When I was Playing in Malaysia I ran into a gentleman I new Australia. I met him several years ago when he came over to play in Australia.
He showed me a new barrel he had developed. He asked me to take it home and try it out. After several training days I was more than happy with the barrel. I tested it against the standard Borg barrel and from just changing the barrel from the standard to the Fusion the velocity jumped 15 - 20 fps. The paint went straighter, and the barrel is quiet. Several of my team tried the barrel and agree with the above. Pete Martin has writen a review for you to read and I have posted a link from PB Nation of another review. Good reading and if you are interested in the barrel you can contact me on 0415 372 386.
Pete's Review.
Back in the day where there were only two types of after-market barrel and the ten piece barrel kit was just a spark in the imagination of some ‘freak’ then I would normally have jumped at the chance of doing a review on a new product.
However these days when there are more barrels on the market than there are calories in a Twinkie, I wasn’t so excited.
(For those who don’t know… there are 150 Calories in a Twinkie)
However, when my team captain asked me to try out the Furious Barrel and passed it to me, it looked extremely well made, it had great presentation with the logo laser etched into the side and very even and great coloured anodising. So I agreed to the test, packed up the gear and headed for the local field.
Now the field is not exactly Huntington Beach, in fact is more like Beirut but with more mud and a few less hookers…. But who cares when you’re balling huh… yeah right, give me HB any day!
So, back to the point. As it happens I just whipped out of my bag a beautiful, brand spanker… Ego 08, British Racing green, with lime green latches and love handles! She is awesome. Fitted with the standard ’08 barrel I thought it would be the perfect test partner for the ‘Furious’.
I had a bit of a play doing drills and there were a few other teams about, so I jumped on a couple of games and let the baby fly. I can’t say I am the fastest on the trigger but I’m no ‘miss daisy’ on it either and had no problem with either barrel as far as breaks are concerned and accuracy was neck and neck, whether it be raining from the break or snapping during the game there just wasn’t much between them.
So as far as the on-field test I can’t really say there was a winner between the two but that’s not a bad outcome for the “Furious’ new-comer, Eclipse have been making barrels for longer than I’ve been shaving and they certainly know what they are doing.
So what did I notice in the off-field testing, well the Furious feels a little loose when you are screwing her into the body of the gun which could be a little worrying, however when the male meets the female she fits cosier than a Hobo by the fire; so we’re all good.
Velocity-wise I have to say there was around an 8-9 percent increase in speed with ‘Furious’ which I thought was quite interesting, but realistically that really comes down to how well the paint fits in the barrel and down here is Aus we are not known to be supplied with Tip Top projectiles, but nonetheless on paper the Furious clocks up a win.
That afternoon I took her out compared to a couple of standard barrels of some local branded guns and I would have rated the ‘Furious’ quite highly over those guys. But I prefer to compare apples with apples if you know what I mean.
So in summary, the ‘Furious’ is a good quality after-market barrel which would probably make somersaults over a lot of the cheaper end standard barrels that come packaged up with the markers.
I did not get the chance to compare to some of the more popular top end after-market barrels and I would be interested to hear someone else’s perceptions on that. When put up against the standard barrels from the Eclipse boys, the Furious certainly holds its own and that is nothing to be sneezed at…
Price versus performance I’d give the Furious a 7.6 out of Ten… well worth a look.
