MacDev Takes License Under Smart Parts' Electronic Paintball Gun Patents

Smart Parts, Inc. and Mac Developments (MacDev) announced the signing of a patent license agreement giving MacDev a worldwide, non-exclusive license to make, sell, offer for sale, and distribute products covered by Smart Parts' electronic paintball gun patents.

Smart Parts owns several U.S. and international patents and pending patent applications related to the use of electronics in the control and operation of paintball guns. These include, for instance, U.S. Patent Nos. 5,881,707; 5,967,133; 6,035,843; 6,474,326 B1; and 6,637,421 B2, as well as patents and/or pending patent applications in Germany, France, United Kingdom, Switzerland, Canada, Japan, and other countries.

so does this mean we could be getting SHOCKER bits in our CYBORGS next season..??? :confused:

No it just means Macdev proably can't be arsed fighting SP over there claim on everything paintball so have just probably decided to pay them a set fee per marker sold. Just guessing.


Although what would you expect to see on a James signature Macdev Ion?

guys this means we are now allowed to produce electronic guns with the fear of SP sueing our arses off! it doesnt mean we will be making ions or shockers here under liscense, but stranger things have happened!

we have been in talks for 5-6 months with SP, this liscense cost us a lot of money but gives us and our customers peace of mind that we will be around for a lomg time yet.
