The event is cancelled due to NSW firearms making all interstate players have to get a one off permit costing $75.00 for each marker they want to bring into NSW. Since it takes 28 days to get one of these permits people do not have enough time to obtain one. I believe this is the same problem the AXL were having for the Coffs Harbour event.
On a side note you can still come into NSW with your real firearm without a permit as long as you are licensed.
We are having a meeting with firearms on the 29th regarding several changes to the NSW firearms act regarding paintball. One issue is of course these rediculous permits and the other main issue is the lowering of the age limit in NSW to play paintball.
Hopefully all will go well and they will listen to us and finally do something about it.

agreed, i think if egos or politics stand in the way it wont work, need to put that all to one side and work on this, no matter what style you play this is going to have negative affects on the sport

Hey guys,
Just wondering if you guys can reply with an age limit (modern legal limit) for Sydney, NSW for paintball. Cause I'm under 18 and don't have a gun license (obviously).
Anyway I want to have a go at this sport but can't due to researching ages and only noticing I have to be over 18 and have a gun license to play. It's not really worth getting licenses either is it now? Like it would be in the end, but I can't even get a license due to my age.
Anyway I'm pretty sure other people under 18 just buy paintball guns and shoot each other in the local bush thats near them... I'm prob gonna do that in the end 'cause I'm not gonna fly to brisbane or somewhere and try to find a 14 year old place for paintball. Oh yeah, I'm about to receive loads of money so don't say I can't afford it :p I like the Ariakon SIM-4 R.I.S. Elite Paintball Gun so far...
Cheers,

We want you to play too mate, but for now it is against the stupid unfair law to do so.
I would strongly reccommend that you do not "buy paintball guns and shoot each other in the local bush thats near " because if you get busted you will not be able to apply for a licence for any type of gun untill you are about 28.
Plus they will take your new toy (for good) and give you a big dirty fine to boot.
We are very hopeful that the laws are going to change in NSW before the end of the year (but do not quote me on that) and you will be able to play paintball.
You will still need someone else like your Dad to purchase the gun as no where in Australia can a minor purchase or own any type of firearm.:thumbsdow

Thanks, but I wasn't exactly meaning that we shoot each other, haha. I am mainly focused on shooting targets like trees or cans or something. Just having fun I guess. Plus I'm gonna get armour as well, I'm not gonna have any chances of being shot in the face or something with a paintball gun shooting at 1,200 ft per second.
And my dad has a gun license and a paintball membership card thingy so I can get away with owning the gun... I just got no where to play that's local...
And why does America get away with this law (they only have to be about 10 to start...) and just about every other country? It's pretty unfair considering australians own lots of guns but they can't have a paintball gun, and the paintball gun can't exactly "kill" someone... unless you intend to like savegly attack the person :evil
Oh well, I guess I'll have to wait for this law to be reduced... but do they have a law about "owning" a paintball gun? 'Cause I really wanna get this awesome gun instead of using the normal $40 - $100 hire guns. But I can't really get it can I until I am the right age... damn my age.
Thanks for the comments,
DJ_GLiTCH
EDIT:
I am just looking for a local NSW place (if any at all) that allows people over 13 to play. I doubt there is as I know 100% now it is against the law, so thanks for your help. I guess crappy plastic BB Guns are what I'm gonna have to stick with, haha (or play with the nerdy low lifes on HALO 2). Anyway thanks for the help, but if you wouldn't mind could you inform me if this law is reduced in age?
Cheers and happy paintballing!

only trying to help there sonny! no need to have a hissy fit!!
I'm not gonna have any chances of being shot in the face or something with a paintball gun shooting at 1,200 ft per second. It better be kevlar if the marker is pulling 1,200 fps
And my dad has a gun license and a paintball membership card thingy so I can get away with owning the gun... It would have to specify Paintball Gun. A normal A, B or C license is not sufficent.
Anyhow, even if he had the correct license you would not be allowed to use it.
Hard as it sounds, your just going to have a little patience.
DJ_GLiTCH
14-09-2006, 03:56 PM
Lol, I was exagerating with 1,200 fps but you should know what I mean.
Lol, and I wasn't having a hissy fit... just every post you've done that I've noticed anyway has been on the opposite to what I'd like to know. So sorry if you thought I was having a go at you.
So what license is required to own a paintball gun? 'Cause I remember once when I was younger that Target and K-Mart sold paintball guns... they use to once upon a time ago from what I remember anyway.
And patience sucks... in this way it does anyway. And why did the ban paintball and stuff related to it for ages 18 and up (in NSW anyway) when Paintball is the least hurtful sport? It makes no sense, lol, but it's proberly like that 'cause no one CAN play when they would like to...
Thanks,
DJ_GLiTCH

Kmart and Target never sold paintball guns mate. It is okay though, I do understand your frustration. It is a pretty stupid law.
For the record you can play paintball at varying ages from 12 and up in most other states of Australia, just not NSW.:thumbsdow
And worst of all, it has nothing to do with the guns being more dangerous.
Just idiot law makers from a few years ago doing what they do best, making stupid laws based on absolutely no facts or understanding.

I totally agree, when can we start a rebel attempt to reduce this age limit? Lol. And I read the statistics on this site for injuries in sport, even handball has more injuries than Paintball! When will the law makers learn... :(
Thanks for the help but I need to know what AGE and what TYPE of license is needed to own a paintball gun, and is there a need for a better license for a more high powered gun? My dad has a paintball "membership" card and a real gun license if that helps... does that mean that he IS qualified for a gun such as the SIM 4 RIS Elite or a Overlord?
Thanks alot for your help guys,

As part of the licensing process you will need to show that you are a member of a paintball club - the "membership" card should achieve this.... However, if its your marker / you are gonna use it, then you`ll need to be licensed - no good having daddies card. And painball is its own weapons category (at least here in Qld) ... so he would be required to apply for a paintball category on his current liecence.....
as for the SIM 4 RIS .... FAT CHANCE of getting that into the country! Think about it for a tick - your going thru grief just trying tto get a licence.... you really think there then going to turn around and let a marker like that into the country!!!! *keep dreamin*.. Anything that is a replica (infact even looks remotely similar) is banned in Aus.
As for the overlord (ariakon??) now your breaking a number of laws - its also a concealable weapon! - that definately aint gonna happen for years....
I thinks you should be looking for another hobby at this point in time!!

Ok Hello guys how are you doing. I lived in america for 6 years and have 2 years experiance in paintball. I am 14 years old.. I was born in Australia. I often did Tactical Paintball matchs and was a leader of my buddies squad. Just Leave DJ Glitch alone he has done nothing wrong and he is probely just as DAM frustrated as I am, and guess what dude.. You can import Arikon guns to australia! You must have the weapons barrel sprayed orange at a firearms unit though. SO before you go and act like a dam mum to Dj Glitch think about what you are saying. You can obviosley import real life looking markers! What are Tippmen A-5's? They are based around something called a MP-5.

not trying to get u in trouble.... just looked at the latest posts section and realised what had happened....
and qloader : i wasnt having a go at him.... just reiterating whats been said to him several times....
As for the importation of Arikon markers [not guns - guns fire bullets :)], as far as i knew, htey were illegal to import into australia.. I am aware of the A5 - MP5SD similarity (ive got one)... Latest revelation in Qld - our supplier was not allowed to import stocks for US5 / A5 in the latest shipment - as a result of the replica situation. Similarly you cannot have a blackcell kit for the Ion (replicates SMG ???)... Same deal with the G36... Infact, the early shipments of the A5 had to have the front grip removed as authorites reckon the grip made it look too realistic.
I know pepole are gonna say that you can get these things in - hey, i got a couple of items that should have raised an eyebrow or two - guess its just who and when you get at customs!
And as i said above, im not having a dig at him - just giving him the info i have... To be honest, the whole replica laws are giving me asmuch grief as the licensing laws are giving you.... Ive got a couple of hundred dollars worth of equiptment which i cant use.

Lol, you actually think I'd be a loser to back myself up? Haha, well ask any mod for the IP or something. It will NOT be mine, lol. I don't create several accounts on forums, only the one. And I'm sure that the guy who posted that was telling the truth so don't start a war against 2 guys for doing nothing wrong. And it prob isn't illegal as the people would know that it shoots paint as it is covered in it? I think we should change the law to "If you own a real looking paintball gun that is similar to a real gun then it has to be sprayed on the barrel and magazine a certain colour".
Cheers and thanks to those who've helped,

Lol, I can't believe you guys... why the heck would I sign up under a different account and why would I make stuff up that I can't even be sure about?! I am asking for your help, why would I make an account, sign on under it and say something I can't be sure is true?! Anyway I'm sure people have "legally" gotten a SIM 4 RIS Elite into AUS, but not sure about the Overlord... I'm proberly gonna ditch the Overlord if it is that much of an issue.
And I know that the American details is proberly true that the guy stated... but the point is that he is stating America has 12 year olds running around shooting each other, and AUS can't even get the guns "legally" that are of good quality.
Regards,
DJ_GLiTCH
Yeah "he" is right in us you can buy em over the counter at walmart (i was there 2 weeks ago) but in australia you cant... its the law and people are working on trying to change this.
however at the moment you cant get a marker and you definatly cant get a milsim marker in.. unfortunatly almost everything from opsgear.com is illegal for entry into australia

Also it is very possible to get a Overlord and A Sim-4 over here through a Australian paintball dealer. If you read the Importation thing it says that PRIVITE importers are unable to do this. And if you keep reading it says that all other importers such as COMMERICAL DEALERS must talk to a firearms unit before importing a milsim WEAPON. There you go, I have done it again..

Hmmmm... I guess that might work? It should be able to work anyway if you get a firearms unit to inspect it and the paint on the barrel and other main parts isn't a bad idea. I think if you went through all that you "might" get away with it.
Oh yeah, I'll make this clear now, qloader FTW is NOT me. He is a friend of mine who use to play paintball in America when he use to live there. He is NOT me. Ok, I understand what you're saying. The Overlord is a no go though as it is a "concealable weapon", I am mainly focusing on the Sim 4 RIS Eilite though when I say a paintball gun as that is what I'm referring too. We have spoken to gun dealers and they will allow the Sim 4 RIS Elite as long as the barrel is painted orange or something that will make it seem like a paintball gun. This will sort of eliminate the "look a like real weapon" appearance, and that is the only reason you can get it sent here.
Now please don't argue with what is stated above, everything is going to be checked through a firearms unit and everything. I'm not going to get the gun for awhile though (cause of my age) but I have spoken to fire arm dealers and they will send the SIM 4 RIS Elite only if the conditions that I've stated are in use.
Ok guys sorry my bad!
Lol, finally he believes us. Thanks.
Cheers,
DJ_GLiTCH
i would love to see it when you get it here
just as a side note...... do you really think the firearms department would allow something to be "spray painted" and then its fine?
black spray paint to cover it up is 99c from crazy clarks... or some sand paper...
but as i said... if you get it in i would love to have a look.....
GOOD LUCK:lol:

Any particular reason why you want the Ariakon SIM 4 RIS Elite? You'd be better of buying a Tippmann A5, or PCS US5, which already here and stocked by paintball dealers, which will save you the added hassel of dealing with a fire-arms dealer who doesn't know squat about paintball markers.
Also RIS Elite comes with a collapsable stock, which are illegal here anyway. Means customs would take your pride and joy, and destroy it. And there aint no refunds if that happens.
Most of the stuff on that particular gun is able to be bought as aftermarket parts for an A5 or any other Mil-Sim marker. Tac lights, Laser sights, scopes, M16 barrel shrouds, M16 handles, you name it, I'm pretty sure you can get it and stick it onto your A5. Except for collapsable stocks, and magazines.
