The marker test is running over a few issues of APM, this is just the first part.
Where we checked 6 markers straight out of the box....
Markers & paint were supplied by Action.
Future tests WILL include: Macdev; Eclipse; JT; Tippmann;
and many, many more!
The tests are designed to give people an idea of what is really achieveable with true straight out of the box performance...

Since the feature is running over a few issues,
we thought it would be more interesting to wait and see the results of the Macdev test and others like the Ego later on in the piece.
Why would we want to kill all the lovely controversy in the first issue?
MacDev IS going to allow APM to test their marker! Why wouldn't they? They have Australia's only maufactured marker and this is the Australian Paintball Magazine isn't it?
So you will see the results........................................... .eventually!

How exactly did you test gun speed .. I would emagine you would have used a pac timer ...

but as I was discussing this with another paintball player yesterday i wont reveal his name to protect his integrity (lets just call him the 7ft X-fighter)

The only way to reliably do this would be to either shoot it with a robot that shot as fast as it could or stick the gun on full auto and mesure the cycle on .. anything with any human interaction is prone to error .. (fingures getitng tired) things like that ..

The test was done on a paintball field, by paintballers with speed reading equipment...
The idea of this test is not to see whether a marker can fire at '90bps' or not!
But to show the average paintballer what is achievable with straight out of the box performance...We're expecting to see figures around the 18-20 mark!
Like we stated in the last issue -
We don't want 'GUN' markers that have been set up by a pro-enigneers or companies,
We want exactly what the average Joe will be handed when he buys one!
Sure we could put them all on full-auto, simulation mode or even dry-cycle the test,
but how does that relate to human integration on the field?
You can't use these modes in any tourny so why test with them?
As I said before the test was done on a field with paintballers,
not robots and scientific geeks in white lab coats!

But maybe at a later date you could do a robot test with the focus on the marker itself out of the box and not to do with the average paintballer.
