Reputation Questions.

i was just in my user CP and found this Latest Reputation Received with point and saw you can expand it and see ppl have left me reputaion points and stuff.

Now obviously it has been there for a while but i have never noticed it.

Now my question is

1) How is the points assigned?

2) And can you look at other ppl's reputation.

well i worked out that there is a button above everyones post u click that and u give them rep and say why, i have like 177 rep points, but other than that i dont know what theer fro or if you can look at someone elses points

REP is shown as the green bars on the righ hand side of any post you do...
It gives other people an idea of how that person is veiwed in the community. In reality it's a frends helping out friends thing, as you can see, Doing and his pal have positive rep :)

It is good to get rep fron an un expected source though - Always leave a comment

I remember when you couldn't even tell who left you rep.
There was some contention about people leaving rep under other people's names.

By clicking on the little scales icon on the top right of every post.

Your reputation giving abilities are based on the following


Register Date Factor
For every X number of days, users gain 1 point of reputation-altering power.

Post Count Factor
For every X number of posts, users gain 1 point of reputation-altering power.

Reputation Point Factor
For every X points of reputation, users gain 1 point of reputation-altering power.

Minimum Post Count
How many posts must a user have before his reputation hits count on others?

Minimum Reputation Count
How much reputation must a user have before his reputation hits count on others?

Daily Reputation Clicks Limit
How many reputation clicks can a user give over each 24 hour period? Administrators are exempt from this limit.

Reputation User Spread
How many different users must you give reputation to before you can hit the same person again? Administrators are exempt from this limit.

So different users have different rep giving ability. There are limits on how much you can give in any 24 hr period, and also limits on how often you can give rep to a particular person.


2) And can you look at other ppl's reputation.You can see their total from the bar (usually Green) on the top right of every post.
Only Mods can see detailed info about everyones rep.

How come some rep that has been left has a green dot beside it and others have a grey dot?

New kids don't have much rep giving power, so if they give rep to someone who has a higher rep than them, it shows up as grey.
