Im playing round with a fieldfinder at the moment.
The idea is that you enter your postcode and it will list your nearest fields.

Give it a test
http://www.billspaintball.com/directory/fieldfinder.php

Post any comments, suggestions, problems here.

These are taken straight from the fields and stores directory.

If your postcode is entered wrong there (I know at least one is) then it will give an incorrect location here.

If your listing in the directory does not have a postcode (about a dozen, mostly WA) then it will not show up at all.

City Paintball Centre is no longer there JJJ now just plays in his backyard.

DyeHard Paintball Games?? Never heard of them. Waikfield St is one of our main city streets (we only got about 3 of them) No field or store there. My guess is the business registration office is in a building on that street.

Some of these date back to when I went through all the yellowpages many years ago.

If any fields are no longer active, It would be much apprecieated if people could let be know by choosing the Detailed View (more info) here http://www.billspaintball.com/directory/dir_results.php?state=All&btype=All and click on the Delete Listing button right at the bottom of the page.

The more accurate the database, the better for everyone.

It works from center of postcode area, to centre of postcode area.

So yes, there will be a variance unless you and the field are both dead centre of your postcodes.

Perhaps could give you more than one feild, so maybe the closest 3. Dunno if this is possible and how easy to do.

Apart from that looking good. Should save a lot of questions from noobs about what feild is close to them.

.
It should give the closest 3 by default.

What postcode are you entering?

As you said Bill database is a bit old, we have tried using the links to supply correct info, but it doesnt alter anything.
ie Cape Fear and Busselton adrenaline no longer in operation.
Bunbury Paintball has the area code 6230 could you pleasa make the changes
This is an interesting idea, a deserved pat on the back to those striving to provide a good forum for Oz paintball
Cheers
Doug

It appears that when the PHP server was upgraded, the delete listing code was broken.

Ive fixed it, and from now on I should receive any delete requests.

Anyone who has sent in a deletion request in the last 6 months or so please send it again. Sorry. :o

HI Bill
i tried the locator to see if my field come up under 6280 which it didn't come up closest field was Bunbury Paintball then marg/ river and then one 125 km away were am i
i checked my field details i have area code 6280 ? Paintball Pursuit
6280 is Busslton thats were i live
field is Capel postcode 6271
Bunbury is 6230
as you can see from the post codes Capel is in the middle of Busselton & Bunbury
SO HOW DO WE LINK US TO THE LOCATOR AREA CODE 6271 which is 15 mins from Bunbury & 25 mins from Busselton as the site (field) post code is 6271

Still working?

This was done as a test a few months back.
I could not find a way to fund the ongoing costs of this service so unfortunantly I had to drop it :(

It uses an old field database so it wont have any new or changed listings.
I thought this had actually been removed when the trial was over.
