Council settles paintball dispute

Highlands Paintball at Penrose expects to be back in business around April after Wingecarribee Shire Council approved changes to its conditions of consent last week.

The NSW Police Firearms Registry withdrew Highlands Paintball's firearms permit and took away the paintball guns in December after council advised that consent for a tourist facility at "Braeside" did not include paintball.

Neighbours on both sides of the property had complained to council of noise, dust and traffic created by the paintballers.

Highlands Paintball will be allowed to resume paintball games on the site subject to 46 conditions.

Paintball will be allowed from Mondays to Sundays, except for the second and fourth Sundays of each month. Paintball participants must be bussed from Sylvan Glen to the site.

Highlands Paintball must also relocate the road into the site, modify the meeting area/shelter, screen off paintball activity areas and fence off the property.
