It's time for that age-old question about eggs... which came first, the chicken or the... oh damn not that one.
the question is, what is the best way to keep the battery door on an evo closed? Mine has an annoying habit of popping off whenever it cops a hopper hit or gets knocked into a bunker. or whenever it feels like it. Most ones ive seen (and mine!) have tape on them, which works but looks really shitty- so is there a better (more convenient) way of keeping the stupid thing closed?
(don't suggest ditching it in the bin and getting a halo/empire, everyone seems to think that's the best thing to do.)
Black Tape and lots of it is the only thing I've seen....:(

I don't know what you have in W.A, but over here we have a little electronics store called 'Jaycar'.
one of the boys i our team came up with this mod (Latte), it uses a simple battery clip instead of the metal strips to hold your battery in place, this is a $2 part, this is then attached to a plug, 50c part, that matches the board in an egg, a little bit of solder and you are off and running..
this does not help with your battery door problem, the doors are crap and will keep falling off when a direct hit occurs.
what this "Latte Mod" does is hold your battery in place regardless if the door is there or not..
hope this helps...
the EGG II (Z-board) is the most underrated hopper on the market, and until they fix the 'battery hog' problem with the V'locity we will be using them during our matches...

I've used velcro. I have stuck some velcro on either side of the battery door and then cut a small piece to hold the door up even if it comes open.
To this date I have not had it come open.
you can also drill two small holes about halfway up the shell (dont do it with batteries in :bundy: ), one on each side. Get some reasonably thick wire ( i used copper bonsai wire) and hook a latch up that can filp backwards to allow the door to still open, but fits snugg enough to stop batteries falling out. Permanent fix, and cost nothing pretty much. Kennys suggestion with the 9 v clips will take alot of stress of the door as well:thumbsup:

Just buy a new Shell not a whole new hopper..
They cost something like $24 for the egg shell, battery door, hopper lid.
Swap the board and everything else over - and you have a near new hopper ..
The new shell seems stronger than the old one, the clips are slightly different and dont seem to break as easy, and the screw sections are reinforced so they dont crack all the time.
Had mine for months and havent had any problems, heaps better than the old one.
