2006 4Play Series - Rnd 1

The first round of the new 4Play series kicks off this weekend out at Samford. A good number of old and new faces should be there, including a team from the local free to air channel Briz 31. They are entering a team in the series and will be showing footage from the series.

Yes Gav has now built his tower of terror - to be used by the camera crew this weekend to get the best possible view for the cameras. We are also looking to write into the rules that refs will be throwing anyone who pisses us off from the top - 8m to the field below .. :no: Also has a second level for the refs to allow us a great overview of the field.

The view is fantastic and will be great for video setups.. Unfortantly i dont think it will be open access and will probably be off limits this weekend due to the Briz31 setup ..

Been some great work by Big Gav making the field look its best for this weekend..

I'm spraying the lines for the 2 fields thursday and the fields will be ready for you all on Saturday if you want to check thm out. Pizzas are included in he entry for the teams if you don't like pizza bring something else. If you have a pizza request let us know ad we will make sure it's ordered.

I'll post the rules tomorrow and email them to all the addresses on the entry forms. To sum up they follow basicly the NPPL rules. But new is

Goggle and Barrel socks, if you don't have them fitted where you should your team will play the next game with the offening player suspended. If that team gets a second offence by any of it's players, they will play the next 3 games with the offening player suspended. And a third offence will play the next 6 games with the offening player suspended.

Sudden death penalty shootouts, all ties will be broken on the field. No count backs or any other crap. It's one on one, 2min limit. But heres the twist, if players cannot be matched in their handicap levels then we will match the levels with muliple players. So if team A has 4 x level 3 players and team B has 4 x level 1 player, team A will field 1 level 3 player and team B will field 3 x level 1 players. Sure and old hand will smack around a newbie but how will he go against 3???? also those players all count as one so he needs to take all 3 out inside of 2 mins to win and they only need one of their guys to tag him to win. Should be fun to watch and great TV LOL pray for a tie.

Also we are not making players become the flag station if they are hit as a flag carrier. they just drop it and the refs will spread it out and direct players to its location on the field. Don't want to see new guys getting smashed on TV standng around holding a flag in the middle of a shootout.

You'll see all the details soon anyway and the draw should be posted Wens/Thursday. There will be 2 fields so that there is some variety for the comp. But they will only film field 1 and we will hold the finials on field 1 as well.

Good luck to all of you, and if your not playing come out and cheer them. It would be great to get some great moves bringing down the house for the cameras. And don't pack up and take off early guys lets try and be sportsmen and women and support the guys playing the finals:thumbsup:

The fields at Samford have been receiving a fair bit of rain, so we will be watching the weather tomorrow to see if the Tourney will be on.

The weather report does say it should be clearing tomorrow for Sunday, however we will see what the conditions are tomorrow.

If the tournement needs to be postponed, this decision will be made Saturday morning and all Team Captains will be contacted via mobile/SMS etc and advised of the postponement.

I will also post an update after the decision has been made ..

Yes - the main issues with the rain is the damage players will do to the field, and getting people up and down the hill. Also it wont be much fun to watch the games sitting in the rain.

Everything is all set however, the field is even laid out and pegged down.

The big fella has pulled out all stops to have everything ready, but if it needs to be postponed for a better weekend - so be it ..

We've hedged our bets and have been doing all the prep for the comp. I even painted the lines only to see most of it wash away over the last couple of days. We've have good rains for awhile now and the dams are runing thru there spill ways I know because I was boogie boarding down the drain today.

Basicly if the rain lightens up tomorrow we should be ok but if it rains again Saturday it will just be too wet to play on that surface. Coupled with the fact that Briz 31 will strugge in the rain with thier equipment. Anyway cross your fingers, but we will make the call at 10am tomorrow 4.03.06

Bad news, the 4play tournament has been postponed to the 2nd of April. Unfortantly it is just too wet to play tomorrow and Bris31 guys arent keen on a wet day for their equipment. It is a killer as we are ready to go and now we have to pack it all back up.

Top Gun are going to run a social day tomorrow to help fill the void but please let them know if you are going.

All the team captains should have received this message by now, either by SMS or email.
