I'm keen for a long barrel simply for the accuracy, however I'm not sure which one I should get. This barrel is more for rec then tourny..
Should I be getting the All-American Barrel, progressive barrel or teardrop, 12 or 14 inch barrel?

There are a few schools of thought in regards to barrel length affecting accuracy.
Try www.warpig.com for some of the tests they have done.
Some tests lead you to believe that anything over 8 inches has little or nothing to do with making the marker more accurate.

Length- is a personal thing. Your stock ion barrel is a 12 inch, if you're comfortable with that then stick with it. However, since you play rec ball and don't have to get that tight behind bunkers, a 14 inch wouldnt hurt. It takes a little getting used to.
Teardrop and Progressive are essentially the same thing, just with different porting on them. Not a bad barrel, but you can do better. I run a Freak Jr on my ion- it's a 14 inch three piece barrel with a stock .693 bore insert and spiral porting. For an extra $20-30 over a teardrop or progressive it's a good solid barrel which will give you the option to expand into the Freak system(s).
If you like the look of the AA, you can always get a front and stick it on the Freak Jr.
http://www.ionowners.com/showthread.php?t=1645 has a good barrel guide but it's intended for the more high end stuff.

length...get the shortest you can...as long as your overall length is over 75 cm
keep in mind you will probably want to get rid of your duckbil as they are as uncomfortable as all hell. get a rail first...and then work out your minimum length.
length...www.automags.org has the same opinion as warpig...go to the tech section.
BORE: think about bore size...the back part will be given a size. You can get both kits (either inserts or solid backs), or just 1 barrel. Barrel kits allow you to match paint size to bore size (greater accuracy), as paint size can fluctuate between cases. If you are getting a kit, you have a few choices such as the freak kit (inserts, retails for about 300) and then you have solid backs (i think all american has some of these...i wouldn't know, i don't use imulse threads). So kit, or just 1 barrel.
All Aerican and Progressive look great. Ultralights are "ultralight", but they have had a reputation for beding when you dig trenches with them. And don't forget to check out gav's Pipe Kits...they may have impulse threads.
remember that the sten, MP5 and any bullpup rifle is rec as well, and you don't need a long barrel for accuracy out of a bullpup, do you...

Go with a minimum of 16inch or you could move up to an 18 i like the freaks they are a great idea and give you the chance to match your bore to the paint you are using

If u get a freak man u would probly only need "89" and a "93" but a "82" would be hand if u get some really small paint

Ive got the All American 14 inch barrel and I reckon its the ducks guts - its a 0.693 I think
Ive got several other markers all with complete kits but I end up always using the larger bore there for I reckon buying a whole kit is a waste of money
Use it to buy some other mods or more PAINT
About the only down side I can see with always using a larger bore is that you might chew a bit of extra air - but most people run out of paint on the field before air

If your shooting Acuball from Action, an "82" will be best.

i got a few different ft's and i have a freak kit for the back of my ion. I think from memory you play at samford so if you want just come over and see me and i will let you have a go with them and you can see what you like.
The longer tip/barrel does give slightly better groupings - depending if you have a good paint match and decent paint.
Be careful of evil barrels if you dont get the ultra evil tip (the thicker tip) - iv seen 3 crack and bent in half  altho those front boys were a lil hardcore/crazy.
The SP all american is a good reliable barrel plus its 2 piece so down the line you can get a freak back & a couple of inserts and have yaself a kit. I personally use the DYE ultralite and wont use anything else.
But if you want the absolute shizzle barrel, get the CP 2 piece with the 21in tip!!! You'll be able to literally stab your oppostion

Evil Pipe kit rocks. :armed: fastest shoot thru a break barrel clean I've seen. But you'd have to use it as a club to do that to the fronts... Don't even wanna know how they did what you say was done to em
They were all the original tips - not the newer thicker ones + these evil kits were given to our team by Jonny Rathburn (Mr Chicago Evil Factory) back in 04 and they have seen some game time since then. They weren't like brand new when they broke, these incidents all happened middle of last year.
The two guys that broke them are just hard front guys who are always supermaning into their bunkers. The one that got doubled over got caught tip first in an awkward dive and the force just bent it over. We dont know exactly when the other ones cracked - but 2 in one tourney was annoying.
Oh and now none of us shoot pipe kits - bad vibes

I can't wait to try out some superman's. I just wont be doing it on my 16" barrel, probably end up winding myself
