was thinking about changing the colour of my marker
and was wondering if anyone had experience in this
mod, or knows of an anodizer in sydney who might
take it on.
i did find a bush mechanics guide to anodizing at
http://users.hunterlink.net.au/~ddped/tech.htm
but i think this is not one for the backyard boys,
as i'd say getting it wrong could be terminal.
cheers.

Heya NDO!!
I make a few parts for motorsport and use "Anodisers and Electroplaters" in Mortdale.

:D
If you know car parts, DBA, the biggest manufacturer of aftermarket disc brakes in Oz use them. I have found their prices to be pretty good and their workmanship is spot on. Their opening hours do suck though.
Luckily i work 2 streets away :D

just remember that anodising is a sacraficial process, in that it eats into the aluminium slightly... ie. the inside of a barrel would be made slightly larger by this process...
so be careful what parts you are going to anodise...
good luck, there are some trick colours out there these days...

if done properly anodising should not eat into aluminium they should use a masking sealant on all parts not to be anodised ie inside the barrel.

Also if your marker is under warranty, reannodising might void the warranty.....

made some calls without luck, seems it's extremly difficult to protect the surfaces like the firing chamber, so nobody was willing to try.
i guess parts like grip bodys may be ok as the tolerances arnt critical.
http://www.morris.com.au/graphics_start.htm were helpful needed to know surface area of parts to be anodized before any estimates could be given.
i guess the technology hasn't hit our shores yet, looking at the graphics that are capable, youd make a killing in the auto industry alone. so id say it's only a matter of time.
should of hid her in Mikes bag with a note, could of got it done while on the Action whirl wind tour of the states. :hammer:

yeah mate, there are special tapes that are impervious to the chemicals, but they are fiddly to apply in small areas...
after looking at the picures from A-Plus Anodizing, it would seem that this is not a true ano, but another form of coating, very similar to HPCoatings www.hpcoatings.com.au (http://www.hpcoatings.com.au) or the same as XTR use on thier turbos...
good luck bud, but there are other alternatives to anodising, including heat sensitive paints that change colour in the sun..www.alsacorp.com

Aplus anodised our markers after HB this year. They turned out pretty smick.
hey guys
just FYI
annodising will only take off very small amounts of surface aluminium 0.0004 , it only eats alot off when it is left to long in the stripping agent or is re-annodised alot of times
annodising is a form of coloured oxidizing it is only between 0.001" and 0.004" deep the 0.004" is classed as hard annodise and is done with a colder process
I can do all your annodisng needs for a good price and within 2 weeks
huxy
also you will not make a killing as Australian Paintballers think customizing is buying aftermarket parts thats why all the custom work I do is for paintballers all over the world mainly in the USA but not here , I can count the number of people who have had customized there markers here on the fingers over 1 hand
huxy
AKA acidcustom on all the bigger forums nothing bad mean't by it Bill
