You may have noticed a couple of forum changes.

"Tourney" has been renamed to "Tourney - Chat and Results"
Its where you can discuss past events, rules, training methods, whatever.
This is not for the listing of Upcoming Events. All event threads listed in here after today will be locked and you will need to reenter them into the correct thread.

"Dates and Results" has been renamed to "Upcoming Events"
This is where all new upcoming events are discussed, be it a tournament, training day, association meeting, even a Paintball Players Pub Crawl would fit here :beer:
There have been some permission changes to this forum and the initial thread starting post will only be accepted if entered via the Calender.
http://www.billspaintball.com/dates/dates.php
What happens is that the calender will make the openeing post in the forums when you submit it, then direct you to the post. (try it and see :) )
If you have detailed information you can put it in the 'Notes' Box.
All replies, editing etc will remain unchanged.

Why have these changes been made?
Several reasons;

Feedback that it was difficult to find event information because of too may different topics in there.
Feedback that it was difficult to find event information because it was scattered in different forums.
Feedback that when information was posted in several areas, it was updated in some and not in others.
It will allow easy searching of event types, dates and locations.
It will allow players/teams to plan their schedule of events more easily.
It allows larger file sizes to be attached (such as entry forms, info packages).

Looking further down the planned development path;

It will make the upcoming results database more efficient.
It will allow event organisers to have a "live" listing of number of teams entered etc if desired. (when teams database is active)
It will tie past events into the results database making it easy for checking and comparing results.

The Calender is up an running at the moment with the exception of the edit and attach files modules.
They will be done shortly, along with some minor graphical changes.

Suggestions for further Calender development is as always, welcome.

this will mean you need to create a post for a tournie .. then discuss it ... but when the tournie is finished you need to start another thread to discuss the results ... ??

seams a but silly to me ...

maybe you could set up a rule so when the event has passed the thread moves its self from upcomming to dates and results ???

just a idea

Fair point, but Im not so sure.

Do you really want to start discussing what happened at an event 6 or more pages in? They are really to different subjects afterall.

It can be done, but what does everyone else think?

I don't so much want to have to read replies to past events six pages or so in, but following on from Electro's suggestion, maybe move the posts regarding old tourneys to the past events/discussions page, and lock them if you think it's necessary. And to discuss them, a new thread has to be created. Right now, looking at the upcoming tournaments ...... there's the hookem cup, tourneys from earlier in the year, tourneys from past times, as well as upcomming ones. Sorry, but it's a bit of a mess :yes: :o

But having said the above :respekt: for making the changes.

you dont have to go through 6 pages .. thats what the go to last read post button is for ... I was just thinking whats the point of having 2 threads about the same tournie

What is the Donor button under your rep points?
Just something I was playing round with. A way to donate towards site running costs or anything else (such as a charity appeal) that anyone wanted to.
