DING DING check again.
Compressed air is compressed air, nitrogen is nitrogen.
Nitrogen is more expensive, and mainly used in America.

nitrogen is the main component in air at approx 78% in the states in some places they do use 100%nitrogen but it costs more and isnt that much better and it makes your marker run hot
nitrous is a wet gas kinda like Co2 and i am not sure that it would be very good for your marker as i think it is used in racing to make extra oxygen to burn in the engine and if you run anything flammable through you marker....BOOM
Why do people constantly want to screw around with high pressure gases????
You dont think people have thought of it before????

From what I have read Nitrogen is used because it is safer than compressed air because it does not expand or contract as easily as air. If you fill a bottle with air in cold weather to max fill and then you take it to a hot place the air will expand past the limits of your bottle which is not good.
Nitrogen is used in car tyres, less stress on rubber with expansion and contraction. Indy cars and I think F2 cars use nitrogen in their tyres.
But it is alot more expensive than normal air. I know that some tyre repair shops do offer to fill your tyres with nitrogen instead of air.
I would also asume this is nitrogen in its gas form not liquid form.

Tyres filled with N2 must have not been filled with air previously.
Not sure what the rule is with bottles.

Hey HC im running with nitro in my tyres and i previously had air, and they unreal they dont need checking as much.
Had them checked the other day, first time in 6 months and they are the same pressure all the way round as they were when they were fitted

yeah thats ok for your tyres but wat about the bottles
i think just air would be fine.

You sure you're talking Nitrous, not Nitrogen?
If you are, don't be daft. If you want a Nitrous cylinder buy a nitrous cylinder. Plus like Jamie said where did the idea come from to run a flammable gas (more actually an explosive gas, I've seen what bad nitrous set-ups can do to a car, I think the carby made it to about 40 metres skyward.) in your marker???.
If you do try it though please film it. :D

Nitrogen is used in racing tyres as the pressure that you put in the tyre doesnt change with heat. As the tyre moves & flexes it creates heat & with air, heat builds up more pressure & in motor racing if the optimum pressure for the tyres is say 45psi, if you start out at 45 once the tyre heats up that will be over 50psi....
with paintball... Nitrogen is used more so for the consistancy of the gas... You wont get as much spike with that than you will with air... But whats the point, as we all know the main reason for fps spiking is more due to bad paint. spiking is not that big a problem since most ppl have booted Co2 & have air...
The Dm5 I set to 297 & it flutuates 1fps+ - .........Why go to Nitrogen??
Tyres filled with N2 must have not been filled with air previously.
Not sure what the rule is with bottles.
As for that.... we've done it 100s of times.
It doesnt really make a difference.
allthough im talking about everyday car tyres not F1
Oh and its non Flammable.
Chuckles, I think you are confusing NITROGEN (n2) with NITROUS OXIDE (no2), they are very different in their properties and not interchangable
Pure NITROGEN is suitable for powering paintballs, NITROUS OXIDE is NOT!

Yeah that is wat i mean! :hammer:
I KNEW WAT I MEANT :p
SO is it possible to fill compressed air tank with nitrogen?
at all?
regardless of price differences i just want to know if it is possible
thanks guys for all the help

Yes you can run Nitrogen in your HP air tank, I have done it before (twice at NPPL events) they would have Nitrogen bottles set up for teams to train with days before the tourney because the air compressors were not set up yet.
Your marker runs pretty much the same as on air except that it gets a lot hotter. I could cook an egg on the valve of my Smartmag!
