No sup air as yet. We do have 114 acres of some of the best countryside you will find anywhere, toilets, showers, kiosk, BBQ's, Div 1 & Div 2 SAPPA teams based at our fields who are more than willing to help anyone who wishes to progress to tournament level. I think there are enough people who want this, and we can provide the facility, but it's up to you guys to make it happen. Like any club, it's only as good as the people involved.

There will be no cost at the first meeting apart from Team Nightshades sausage sizzle. First meeting will be to get a bit of an idea of how many people want to be involved, what level of commitment they will have and what they want from a club. Cost is one of the things that will be discussed. :)

This "club meeting" is just to see who turns up and the interest level for people wanting to start a club. It will be aimed at people that want to play more paintball at a slightly cheeper rate, It also lets people ask questions about tournament play and practice in a friendly atmosphere before taking the plunge into SAPPA. The more people we can encourage into playing pro ball the better, and as SAPPA is one of the best tournaments on the aust circuit at the moment, I think it will be a great addidtion to have new faces in the comps.

I would love to thank Paintball Sports for allowing this to happen, they are missing out big time by letting us use the field and shoot discounted paint, so they deserve a pat on the back, (beer forthcoming Steve)

By the way, Nightshade will also be supplying refreshments, and gold coin donation will more than suffice.

I would like to be a part of SAPPA. No offense but I for one have absolutely no interest in playing in the tournaments they have nowdays. The bright colours, fast play and most of all the inflatable bunkers totally turn me off. Gimme camoflage and stalking opponents. If there was a SAPPA would there be any chance of scenario games? Otherwise I'll stick to field and backyard play.

SAPPA and this new proposed Paintball Club are two different things. SAPPA is purely for the style of play that you so despise, and I'd say that the new Club is for a mixture of all types of paintball, rec, scenario or whatever.
And playing in your backyard is illegal, just like getting markers on the sly.

Chief Wiggum
23-08-2005, 04:51 PM
I cannot see SAPPA going back to the bush to be honest. Paintball for pro players relies on sponsorship to cut the costs of playing, and sponsors want some bang for their buck, its no good hidden in the bush, they want 100+ spectators looking at "red bull" plastered over Adam as he runs in for that big bunker on JJJ. You see that on a supair field, not in the bush. By all means come along to the club meet, there may be people there with the same interest. Kaipto is all bush anyway, so thats what we will be playing on during club days. But if you have not seen pro ball in the flesh, you might just change your mind.

I mean out at my mates farm. Out in the Barossa Valley. Is that legal. They shoot shotguns and rifles all the time.

Markers on the sly. :o
A ref from a field to remain unnamed offered me and my mates markers and balls under the table. Don't think I'll take up the offer though. Keep it legal.

I have been to few tournaments. I was actually asked to join Garys (I think) team (Warpigs). Turned him down cos he was a bit of a tosser and was a bit dodgy.

Nope it isnt in NSW. You can only use paintball markers at aproved paintball fields. Search your states website on paintballing laws and find out exactly what is and isnt ok. Then you wont get in trouble if cought for doing something "caz you didnt know".

No Spunky Monkey its not legal. You can only shoot a paintball gun/marker at a registered paintball or firearms field.

Sounds like you should check out the club being set up rather than SAPPA.

Ok for starters I am not 100% aware of all the laws for paintball. I do know that you are not allowed under any circumstances to engage in a paintball game with any other persons unless on a authorised paintball field with all the relative paintball safety equipment. You are not allowed to discharge a paintball marker in a residential area it is the same as discharging a firearm (rifle, shotgun, etc). What ever you do make sure you find out the proper laws regarding what you are doing because you could be breaking the law. Also not good about markers on the sly all paintball markers MUST BE REGISTERED and go through the proper processes. We don't want anybody shooting up the neighbour hood. Also don't flame or discredit people on here this is a paintball forum that is used by most tournie players in all of Australia. Paintball in Australia has come along way in the last couple of years because of responsible tournament players we don't want to see any accidents or misappropriations of paintball markers. At the end of the day it is a privelidge to play paintball and we don't want any bad accidents or bad publicity to hurt our sport. Just a few points that had to be made.

Chief Wiggum
24-08-2005, 12:00 PM

Because the law says so.

MG1100

If you read the South Australian Firearms Act it states that you are only permitted to discharge a paintball marker on a licensed paintball firing range. As it is getting easier for the individual to import paintball markers one of the reasons for encouraging people to be involved in a club is to educate them and keep them up to date on legislation and what we all need to do to help paintball grow in the right direction. We, as I'm sure have many others, have invested a huge amount of time, energy and money into improving the public perception and every day acceptance of paintball as a fun sport. So lets do the right thing and keep paintball on the paintball field.

Firstly to those who will be actively involved in the club. I'll get that email list out to you ASAP.
Next many thanks to the SAPPA members that turned up to help get this off the ground. By the way Adam is the new cook, the sausages were perfect. Dan made sure the beer was cold, he gets my vote.
I will be starting a new thread "Kuitpo (S.Aust) Paintball Club and posting dates in the Calander section. Also a new page on our website "paintball club news" www.paintballsports.com.au to help keep everyone informed.
Meetings will be 1st Sunday of every month starting Sunday 6th of November.
