hey all,
well i guess i asked the wrong questions before. Ok im in the UK and im comming back into australia around christmas. My grandfather has a gun licence and i am considering getting one myself. Is it possible to ship a marker to him or does the transaction need to be done through an australian licenced dealer?? If he buys one he will need to escort me to fields for tourneys and rec? What are the costs/ process of licencing???

any help is greatly appreciated.
regards
Nick.

OK..first of all...where in AUstralia???
Laws are diferent in differenet states

IN QLD:

need licence and permit to aqure and b709a import permit to get fireamr into country
Transactino MUST be brokered by a firearms dealer

Your dad or whoever it was MUST have a PB1 clause on their licence or a permit to aquire for a marker will not be given due to change in QLD police policy

Best bet would be to ring the cops here...

VIC, Tassie it is illegal to play PB

Process:
In QLD: safety course in weapons training: $80
Safe: 100 to 300 dollars
5 years registration 85 something dollars
Need letter from paintball field official for legitimate reason for paintball
Cat A licence with PB1 condition: allows you to use paintball marker at a field only...not private property
You cannot be in possession or be responsible for a FIREARM without licence r supervision. A marker takes on almost the same legal definition as the .308 I wanna buy. Do not take any short cuts or the cops wil screw you in your sleep. Take it careful and make sure you have every base covered before you try importing

thanks captn, i live in NSW. i think i will just wait and go through the whole licencing process when i get home. Should have enough cash saved around that time to get myself a decent setup.

Have a look at http://www.billspaintball.com/law/law.php

Dont buy a marker over there. Its not worth the hassle for the small amount you may save.

Put your PTA's in at the same time as your aplication then you will have less of a wait

yeah might be something better out by then. What is the next step up from an ion?? just out of curiosity, if setup properly how accurate is the ion over say 40m? a radius of shots at 40m??
