Im trying to motivate some Victorians to travel over for this hopefully some vic players form some teams sack up do some training and come across and offer enigma some competition:)

Any chance of more than 8 games at the event?? Its been 8 rounds since round 2 2k3 i think, and we always manage to finish really early. Im sure it would be VERY easy and doable to run 10 games..adds more incentive for interstate teams. At the last 7man events Ive been too we've had 13 prelims on most Saturdays and thats 7man so the games run for even longer and yes using only one field in most cases:)

Not sure how hard it would be but it would be good to have a draw that gets every Div 2 team to play at least 2 games against Div 1 teams...

It would give the Div 2 teams a taste of Div 1 and make the step up (when the time comes) not as big as they would have an idea of what to expect... but with only 2 games it would mean the Div 1 teams still play the majority of games against teams in their Divisions...

SAPPA has just ordered a shiny new sup air field. 19 peice kit thanks to our friends at Tomahawk Paintball. It should be here before round 4. :thumbsup:

Not just any field. The same field they use at the Millenium Series (minus the big M)

SAPPA purchased it at a fantastic reduced price, and with the option of paying it off over the next 18 months.

This is a major win for SAPPA, and its members. SAPPA will be looking at options where members and other parties may rent the field.

So come round 4 we should all be playing on an international spec field. I can't wait. :D

There is a definate lack of Div 1 teams at the moment, totally agree. We knew that at the start of the season, and for those at the AGM they would have heard that the committee were expecting it to be this way this season.

As an association we implemented a couple of changes this year to entice more rookie teams in an attempt to help SAPPA expand and grow. To me this is why we have 12 teams in Div 2 - 6 of them are 1st year rookies! So to me, the argument about Div 2 being too large and full of sandbaggers is baseless.

We knew Div 1 was going to have slim pickings this year, especially after losing 2 of the teams - Damage not playing and Total Eclipse have been reff'ing. It was always going to be a big picture outlook for Div 1.

I think it is fair to say that once you have picked up 1st place for a season you should step up, I beleive that is already a SAPPA edict. Similarly, I think if you pick up 2nd or 3rd for the season over a couple of years you should also step up. No arguments there.

From memory it was decided to keep Div 1 and 2 games seperate to avoid the constant arguments from Div 2 teams on tourny day who had to play more games against Div 1 teams and therefore thought they were at a disadvantage points wise than some other Div 2 teams that didn't play as many Div 1 games.

Anyway, I really ask the Div 1 teams to be patient, there will obviously be 2 or 3 new teams next year and then hopefully at least the same the year after.......I know you get sick of me saying it, but look at the big picture and the development of the sport for years to come, not just the next tourny. I know the committee really appreciate all Div 1 teams and their continued support of the Association

Also I think the reason the div 2 teams dont wanna step up that they are afraid of being smacked. Playing good teams lifts your game and you learn heaps. The sappas I have heard of finished nice and early due to the great work of refs this year so more games would be a good possibilty. Im sure a draw could be organised so each team played an equal amount of teams in div below and above there division.

All depends on how many teams enter in that division. Usually get 5 teams and every one plays each other twice with 2 byes..

So what teams are playing this Rd. This will by far be the best round ever that SAPPA has put on.

Right, here is a bit of an update for you all.

Get there early!! :hammer: Captains meeting at 8am. First game 9am.

Our new Tomahawk field is still on the boat and won't be here for anothe two weeks!!! Bugger :mad:

Due to the big storm last week the air field at Adrenalin suffered some damage, we have begged and borrowed for more pieces and thanks to our friends at Skirmish SA, Kaoz and www.propaintballshop.com.au we will have a min'n'match air filed. Much respect to those guys. :thumbsup:
So with that in mind the field won't be set up / inflated until the sunday morning. We don't want the winds ripping the field to pieces again. :no:

We would love it if people could lend a hand in the morning to set up. Travis from team Welt has been doing a bang up job of organising the field thus far so if you want to help out see him in the morning.

Word to the wise.... if you help set up the field you get a better idea of the layout .... hmmm enough said.

We will be holding a minutes silence ON the field before the first game as a mark of respect for the passing of Scot Stokes. BE THERE!! Black armbands of respect may be worn by players and refferees for this round.

Below is now what looks like to be the final draw. 16 teams in all.

It was a really good sappa in the pro division. Some very close games and some great comebacks from being played down on some teams. The field was great and played very well in div 1 with some very quick games. The Ams however tended to bunker down and throw paint.

Second news flash: I was spotted RUNNING and bunkering... naturally i can barely walk today :) :) :dance: :dance:

All CGI tanks were checked and tagged by Organisers before any filling was done by Martin H - who spent most of at the compressor ( boring )
My CGI was a goody.

Had a fine day with Bob longs Ironmen.. it's hard to break years of habit when you have 5 backmen playing together. :eek: :eek:

Another tournament over, full of emotion, thrills and spills.

Thankyou to everyone for coming out onto the field for a one minutes silence to remember the passing of our good friend Scot Stokes. I'm sure he would have been very proud of you all.

Reffs - Team Ecipse. Rob our new head reff. Excellent work, kept the games rolling along quickly and called it how he saw it. The rest of the team. 'Lil Alz, Big Chris, JJJ, Renae. Ultimate judge Gazza. Our ring in reffs, Brett from Team Kaoz and John on the Chrono. All worked in the rain and cold, didn't eat till late and not complaining one bit. You guys worked the hardest all day and i can't say how much SAPPA appreciates your effort. They also donated the money they received from reffing to Jane and her family. Well done guys :thumbsup:

How does Enigma have such a high score of 900's and 500's highest in div 1, just wondering how many games each team played.

Ah ok so div 1 play everyone in their div twice, and div 2 played everyone in their div once. Sweet was just curious because some scores seemed high, others low.

Adam question if i bring a team to round 5 and theres 6 pro teams, will that deffenitly mean we get 10 games minimum? Cheers.

Hey Deadeye, it looks like that would be the case. After playing AXL where you play nearly 35-40 games in a weekend. Playing 8 or 10 looks like a walk in the park. Then why the hell am i just as sore !!! :cry:
