Gidday Guys,
I've been bouncing this one around in my head for the last couple of weeks. I finaly went and talked to a programer mate of mind about how posable it was...he told me give him a coupla weeks and he'd have something for me.
But, Then I thought it might be a good idea to see if something like this is wanted/needed.
The General Idea -
Like the topic says, a player/team database. The main purpose for this is to make it easy for torny organizers to determine Div2/Div1/Pro status for teams.
Each player creates his own username/etc. Players can then form teams. Torny Oganizers can then credit verious teams for wins/placings for a torny.
For example -
Player A might create a team (Team Bills), and invite players B, C and D to join the team (Who would have to accept the invitation). The site then records that players A, B, C and D are part of 'Team Bills'.
Team Bills plays in Div1 at Southpacs, coming 2nd place. Big Gav logs on and enters the results of the torny.
What does all this mean? Well, it gives a simple and easy way of tracking how much experiance/skill a team and player has. Its easly searchable to see how well Team Bills performed againced Team Agg (or whoever). Over time it gives an easy way to rank players and teams as it records their victorys and losses.
Fun Stuff,
Ofcause, no player/team database would be complete without players being able to show off their 'Gats' etc. This also allows other players tobeable to search players on the database (if they decide they want their profile to be visable), and send them PM's asking them about their marker/goggles/pod pack/etc.
Another added advantage I can see to this is an easy way to form teams. People who are unteamed (or are in a team that is not entering a particular event) to list their interest in a torny and look for other players to form a team with.
Other things that could be listed are training days attended, willingness to travel, etc. So if Team Bills wants another team member, they can look over the player database and assess players as to their suitablilty.
What do you guys think? I'd like lots of feed back, from both players, and torny organizers. What features would you like to see, etc.
Your thoughts?
