Hi, again, not having played alot -and only having borrowed or rented gear, im not too sure on what is the best equipement - i have tried to do a bit of reading on most subjects, but i always like others opinions -after all, manufacturers and suppliers are trying ot sell you the gear, so you need a little outside opinion.

-my question regards to goggle systems... two in particular.
the Vforce Profilers
and the Dye Invision system

i quite like the look of both, no preference really.

however i have come across a couple of common complaints...

Invision: due to the many vents, they say you eat alot of paint. and that it is a fairly small mask - if you have a large head/face some areas may be left exposed. i have heard that the lenses can become brittle after a while when exposed to alot sunlight - a bit of concern in australia- i assume that its fairly common sense to store equipement out of sunlight otherwise -and that replacements are around the $50 mark.

Profiler: Main concern raised is that the lenses start to fog up after a short period - definately not something i want if im paying that kind of price tag for them... when i have rented goggs before, they have supplied anti fog, and the stuff seems useless to me... they insist it must be my breathing... but i breath naturally, even if i make a concentrated effort ot breath 'down' it doesnt seem to change -hence my eagerness to buy a good set of goggs, and not a 'rental' quality set... the profiler seems to have had some flak over fogging issues and im interested if anyone else has those problems? the $50 price tag on replacement lenses is also a concern if it doesnt take long for the lenses to fog up...

if anyone has experience with both systems i would be interested in some feedback
-comfort -fog -protection - range of sight - hearing muffled? -lightweight?-painteating?

thanks again for everyones time and effort answering a newbies questions -especially when they have probably been answered a hundred times before...

I havent used profilers before, but I have a set of (steel) Invisions.

They are quite comfortable, low profile and IMO look quite good. I am still on my original set of clear lenses, they have held together quite well.
Due to the low profile you may get a freak ball that hits ya in the chin if you are talking or something during a game. But the low profile also offers you quite good ventilation which (especially on humid/hot days) is a god send.
A lot of people mention that your hearing can be impared by the mask, but I havent come across this problem.
I must say though, they are a bit of a bitch to pull apart! But once you've done it a few times it gets easier.
Overall I'm quite happy with them, wouldnt hesitate to get another set.

Really it all comes down to personal preference though, try on both sets if you can, before you buy, and see what suits you most!

Hi Logan,

I'm a noob too mate and i've done a hell of alot of research on gogs, I've heard the same things you have about the invisions and the v-force, I've tried both on and they are reasonably comfortable ( v-force seem more so in this area ) I've also tried a whole shop full ( pretty much everything action had ) of other gog's on as well and I really like the JT proflex's I only tried the 7's which were good except for the soft ears ( you dont want a round hitting you there ) but the Proflex8's came out this month ( see attached pic ) which are what I am getting since they now have formed ears !

But like I'm sure someone's going to tell you its entirely personal pref. as everyone's heads different, but i'd go JT's as they have a pretty good rep. and are cheaper than the V-force.

Oh and the JT's have more chance of getting the odd bounce around the jaw area since they are softer, which is great if your lucky enough :)

Cheers,

Scooter

I have JT Proteus gogg's..

Even when everyone else's is fogging up - ( and even anti-fog lenses fog..)

I just turn on my fan.. and it's clear and fog free.. i was out reffing in the rain for hours today.. and i didn't have any problem with my fan running..

some people laugh or comment about the fan, but who's laughing when you're not fogged - and they are ?..

Rather than trying on, I'd ask people what type they have - and if they have any prob's - or any feedback on their current system..

'may your air always run out and your balls break in the hopper'

you are nothing but a serial pest - everyone else has been nice enough to enterain another new player who is trying to find out a few of paintballs boundaries (lets face it, with all teh different laws in each state, and the changes they are all going thorugh its hard enough to follow let alone learn) and i appreciate their advice, its people like you, who put people off the sport... i can understand if a bunch of politicians want to ruin your day by putting restrictions on everything - your a pain on your own. but thanks for the warm welcome to the site and hobby - i can only hope someone groin shoots you before you reproduce... the world has enough flaming clowns on the internet... without letting them breed...

i have a v-force profiler and love it. It has NEVER fogged up, is extremely comfortable, looks good and is a very tight/low profile. it also has a good bounce factor. i really recommend it

i would probabley choose the invision ,as i have one and a jt spectra proteus ond both are exlnt. to stop your paint eating problem just put thin spounge in the vents.
that works good for me.........

JT Proflex, Proto Switch, Profilers, Invision. Thats the order in best to worst:) Although Id say the Protos are the best there for anti fog resistance, but Proflex are slightly cooler looking.

I would have to agree with the Profilers!
I have just got mine in the last 2 weeks and they are the best google i have worn!
I also have a set of JT Proteus as well! The JT fogged a little but nothing major!
But the profilershave not fogged at all! Just get your hands of the Vforce anti fog and you will be sweet! The lenses in the Vforce profilers and like a "QUICK SNAP SYSTEM" you can change a lense in like 10 seconds
(Its says on the box world record is 4.78 seconds  )
They are tip top!

takes most people well over 30 seconds to change profiler lenses from what ive seen, ppl ahve trouble unlocking the lenses. proto lenses are alot easier to change twist the ear piece it pops off and lenses are free. Profilers got no style unfortunately. They perform ok and are comfy but look crap.

JT Proflex, Proto Switch, Profilers, Invision

what your reasoning behind this order deadeye? -have you tried them all? -or are you just basing this on looks?
im interested because im not a fan of hte proflex or switch looks... just a personal opinion...
cheers

Hey mate, i have JT Proteus goggles, and i love em.
Never fog, and are comfortable to play in.
I'm a Reff at Action Paintball and we have to wear radio ear-pieces, so the ear room you get with these goggles is an added bonus.

Yep, the ability to plug in a sports comm system makes them an easily upgradeable mask, there's a huge range of lenses - iridium, yellow, rose, tint and clear.. you can add a blower/extractor fan to them easily - the only downside I have found is that you need to slightly modify the venting at the top by cutting a small circle out under the fan to make it extract a bit better.. and changing lenses is a bit hard to start out ( until you've done it a few times )..

but with that in mind, how often do you change your lenses for fun ?

I am happy with my jt proteus goggs.. I might buy a pair of profilers as a spare / backup ( or for when mates come out to play )

ive had 2 Proflex's, 1 Proto Switch, 2 Pairs of Profilers, and a pair of Invisions.

Proflex get my vote as number 1 because they are so well designed. Soft ear pieces, flexible mouth guard, great anti fog lenses, and they look great.

Switch because easy to change lenses, and the most comfortable of all because they have HEAPS of foam in them which is cool, coloured models look great especailly with tinted lenses and you can customise them by painting them etc like mine in my pic and these have the best no fog properties of all from my expierience.

Profilers are good, but the lense change system can be a pain, and the fog more easily than the other two and they are super ugly.

Invisions very hard everything that touches them breaks, cant recall how they went with fog, uncomfortable and ugly, and the worst lense change system ever. Changing lenses takes forever.

these are the top 4 though, there are alot of other goggles which i rate below Invisions.

Well I just bought myself the Proto Switch.... I think they are a nice looking set of goggles.... They look to have heaps of protection and I have heard they do very well against fogging.... havent got a chance to try em out yet but when I do I will report back...
