fill valve/nipple

I have an old style 4500psi reg and bottle and the valve shat its self at last tourney. Tried to replace it but every valve I tried was leaky. Does any one have any tips on how to get this to seal properly. I did use thread tape on each one.

this might sound funny but you might of wound the tape on the wrong way .when you do this when you screw the nipple in it pushes of the tape

Could it be a difference between the threads of the bottle and nipple ?
