seriously? because that would be awesome. we could talk to some of the local ( or close ) places that have enough decent land to do it... possibly von splatt when he gets his legal issues sorted out or something.

How would you coordinate it all???
You will need people to be able to back up week after week. It is hard enough getting a Sunday League gonig for already existing teams, so attempting a rec tourney would be hard.

yeah. thats true. but if we talked to the right people and organised for the property we could get a few teams to support it than might have a chance??? if annyone else would be interested post here so we know if this is an actuall worth looking into.

By all means try.. have a look at the posts for the sunday league and look who tried to start that and get in contact with them. They may be able to help.

yeah like in the bush.... ( if you dont know what rec is then its like really long games in bush/forest/rough terrain areas with lots of land, games usually go for ages and not as much paint is used [in comparison with speedball], you would usually wear camoflage gear or something and there would be snipers and so on) well thats my idea of rec games anyway
Bazza

How much of that land do you actually use?

If you include the 200 metre clearance zones as required by state firearms, probably about 60%.

Sounds pretty awsome. Would love to have "organised" Rec Ball competitions in Sydney. But not sure how many people would be interested!
But id play for sure. I love a bit of hide and shoot!!

I think Shaggar is from Morayfield as well. And there's that wolfy bloke from Narangba. WhyTF not... But just not during uni exams....exams suck
No use rushing it though. Take our time... connect... and make friends... stuff like this...espescially in a small community, probably wont happen just by going on a rec tournament crusade. If we want it too, then it can happen...eventually.
Perhaps organise something akin to Shattnerball in the US. That would be OK. :) gets everyone involved

I would be very interested. My terrain is most suited to this style of play. I have a feeling I would not be reffing either.
I used to think the mark of a good paintball player was that he shot his unsuspecting opponents in the back. Any mug can blunder into a head to head fire fight.

no chris you would be too hardcore in a rec game to have to ref! haha your display pic sais a lot too. cant believe your on the flyers for mango hill skirmish its awesome.
i would definately be up for this along with scenario type games. Ive read stuff about the US having 50 player a side games over 24 hours. That would be intense. I would be willing to travel for something like this as well.

How many WA bush bashers are there around?
-couldnt be too hard to set up a rec tourney.
can even keep it down to 5 man teams... just make the feilds bigger, and full of scrub... organising teams of 10 players or more is a big task, its hard to get guarantees for everyone... 5-7 is still a good number...
tis less about massive manouvers and sweeping areas... more about a bit of hide and seek...
beware the ghillie suited daemons!

We have 'Closed Gate' days about every 6 weeks
This is where we let people with their own markers/paint etc come along for a cheap days play
We run comps in the bush and on a speedball field down at Busselton
They are usually a really intense full on days play but all fun without the seriousness of full-on comps
cheers

We will probably follow the same sort of format. Be good to have our teams have some kind of interfield tournament.

Well, if this sort of thing really takes off, i've got myself a little team all ready... all A5 weilding rambo wannabes... should be fun. -how big a team are we talking? -cause i still think 5 man teams are enough in on a bush feild... 7 at most... 10 is too much to organise.

Whats the chances of a full blown Woodsball Tourney like?
I've already got enough mates into teh sport to take part in a 7man tourney
and there are a few more newbies in WA just got into it as well - all a5 toting rambo's too - so theres a few teams - how many others are running around playing tourney only because there isnt a bush competition scene?
how much organising would it take to set a date 6 months down the track to have a big event? -if someone had a registered feild - and part of it was as of yet cleared on a large block that would be great....
any thoughts?

If all goes well I will be set up to host a bushball tournament.
I too know a lot of people who would like to try their bush balling skills in a competion scenario. Like I said fingers crossed I will be able to host something like this in 6 months.

Bazza - you arent far from the truth.
as funny as it may sound -even the guys with their DM5's have put down their markers and asked to have a hold.... and usually had big grins on their faces while they practice shouldering probably the most realistic marker without going milsim... They are cheap, tough as nuts, look nice enough in their own way (as i said -even the tourney guys have been grinning like little kids) and arent a bad starting point for new players.

You know what would be a hoot..
Have a stock class match, team's battle it out using A-5's.. but make it a finals round.. then no one can say " they were ramping/cheating/bouncing[insert excuse here]"

Personally the I think the A5 is ugly. I have never held one but i find the 98's(almost identical in shape) uncomfortable to play with.
