What dip swithes do you have turned on ...inside the grip?
Switches 5 and 3 should be on and all others off...
Give me a ring on 03 59964506 or 0419118045 and i will talk you through it.
Cheers, Neil

I know it's a silly question,
But have you turned the reg on on the supply bottle,
Have you adjusted the low press reg as well.

Give james a buzz at mac dev

Just from what you have said it sounds like the Lpr is your problem, hard to tell from just what you described. Though you haven't adjusted anything doesn't mean it isn't dirty or gunked up (when was it last serviced?) bad LPR means low pressure behind the ram, so no go. Don't really need to send it away first read the manual about what it says about servicing the LPR.
