I was just wondering the same thing...

If you've got a mac-dev reg on, and it's loctited or some such.. how will they test the cylinder ? or does it have to go back to mac's for testing ?

If you're in W.A., Australian Safety Engineers will test the bottle for you. I dropped my bottle with MAX Attack II still attached into them, and picked it up the next day tested and stamped. They are located at 45 Catalano Canning Vale 6155 ph 9456 2066

Righto so what im getting here is that you dont need to take your bottle to a specialised place to get it tested?

find a local dive shop and ask them who they get to hydrostatically test their tanks. I just got a ten year old dive tank tested, stamped and filled in Parramatta. Chances are the tester will be able to service and stamp your bottle...

You do need to take it to a specialised shop to have it tested as the person testing it or atleast the person who signs off on the paper work and supervisers the testing has to be a NATA signatory. If you (wizard) work in a dive shop that tests it's own scuba tanks then that person can test your cylinder, but he will need to make the fittings up to fit the cylinder which although it ain't hard is still a bit of mucking around considering it only costs about $25 - $30 and only needs to be done every 3 years. I have done a heap of high pressure testing myself in my work, even worked in a valve testing workshop for ages and never tested my own stuff as it wasn't worth it for saving 25 bucks.

Guys,

You would need to take your bottle's to an approved test station.......because they will have a unique test station stamp, these stamps are unique to every test station.

I believe they do a hydrostatic (fill the bottle with water and pressurize it) test on the bottles.

I also believe that your regulator should not be loctited in the bottle, it should have a special lubricant only on the thread.
