as im still a little green to the exciting world of pb i gotta ask whether steel scuba tanks are the only tanks that take 4500psi? want to run full pressure in my bottle but can only get 3000 from my alloy tanks :help:

most air bottles are now fibre wrapped and they can hold anywhere up to 5000psi.

Not the scuba tanks, the marker tanks.
You'll need a big compressor to get 4500psi, like the SCD set up or Big Gav's compressors. (Well, more like 4350psi..)

No I think Deadeye misunderstood your question.

As I understand it due to Australian safety regulations, alloy tanks will only be allowed to be filled to 3000 psi (if you have the correct valve to go with it). Anything hire you will need to show that you have a tank rated to go to 4500 psi and you have special high pressure valves. However in saying that majority of dive shops where tanks are filled will not (and maybe could not) give you anything higher that 3000psi.

Jamie, am I on the mark with this?

Hope this helps.

Cheers

any tank be it scuba or co2 or fiber wrap or whatever can be filled to whatever it is rated to... that rating is written on the tank (as long as the compressor can operate upto that pressure)

you can fill a scuba tank to 4500 psi if it is marked/stamped for that pressure.

we regularly get our tanks filled to 300bar/4500psi

most scuba cylinders are only rated to 3000psi working pressure but you can get higher pressure ones they usually have din fittings on them
