Ok ladies and gents i am in need of a little help and feedback. :respekt:
Im now looking at mods for the shocker and the first thing i am looking at is a freak kit, i have read so many reviews people love them people hate them some bloke in the us said if he found some one that worked for smart parts he would beat them about the head with it because it sucked

So i thought i would ask the people that realy count

How many of u guys use them, how do u rate them and what do u think i do

Cheers

always gonna get your big slaggers and your big supporters thats the nature of the sport, have heard a lot of good things about the freak but never actually tried one myself. IMHO your best bet will be to ask someone that you know has one at your next training day/tourney to see if you can borrow it for a few trial shots and make your own mind up. Although if you are running a standard barrel most any aftermarket barrel system will be an improvement

Even compaired to the All American

Much of a difference i mean between the 2

nah the AA is crap, the freak would be a much better upgrade, have you thought of getting a single large bore barrel like a boomstick or similar

i8dafrog

nice well that settles it then bring on the FREAK

So u think a complete kit with front or use the aa front

Blacky u da man :respekt:

dont really know much bout them

if they are compatable just use the AA front thats all just air brake and cosmetics anyway,

I would get a single .688-.689 back if possbile unless you are shooting a lot of chronic. most guys I have seen (not that its gospel) tend to fart arse around matching paint only to fall back to the large bore cos of breakages form the occasional odd shaped ball. Paint/bore match is key to accuracy but a complete barrel kit will set you back $350AUS, if you are generally using the one type of paint a lot then get an aftermarket barrel (like a dye boomstick)that fits nicely and stick with that

some of the other guys will give there opinions tommorow so I would hear them out to as they might see the situation differnetly

Robbie from Total Eclipse has a Freak kit on his Dynasty Shocker and he is very happy with it.

Let me know when you'll be out at Action next mate, I've got a Shocker freak kit that you can put some paint through.

I use Freaks on both my Shocker and my Timmy, simply because they are the best barrel system available, in my opinion.

I have used a fair few freak sets and they have always worked great for me.

I think freeks work brilliantly ... but

I am still using a freek but Im big boreing everything ... I just get the biggest bore I have .695 or .698 and use that .. it greatly reduces the barrel breaks I have and makes it easy to deal with shooitng through breakages as I stil dont use a squeegie ..

I have all the parts to make a full freek set so you can try and maybe buy on the weekend if your out ...

That is the strangest thing I have ever read. I'll have to run that thru the credability meter. Me I'd carry a squeegie and match the paint to the barrel for accuracy. But then again should you take my advice coming last at the Masters gives a low reading on the meter also ;)

Most of us use 695's all the time. There is no real reason to shoot a smaller bore. Like they said you do get slightly better air effiecency, but if you get one slightly odd shaped ball you will probably murder it. The real reason they invented different size bores was for cockers, so the ball did not roll out.

Funky is right...in open bolt markers the detents line up the ball anyway so accuracy is barely effected by not having a precise paint to barrel match. Having one big open bore barrel is really all you need...least chance of ball breaks, the easiest to shoot through if they do occur, and your eyes are preventing chops so your got the ultimate setup for never having to squeegie:thumbsup:

Is this true? Or more Deadeye/Electro horseshit?

rodney and cashmoney agree, most pro teams do the same, eric roberts i think has a custom dye boomstik in .70 all he uses.

Dear SK,

Are Deadeye and Electro full of horseshit?

Dale.

Dear Dale,

Yes, I believe that to be true.

Kev.

Straight from the horse's mouth.

I'll give the big bore theory a shot on Sunday.
That'd be good if it works.

like I said it's funny to watch evryone down size their barrels in the morning only to start mashing paint and farting around in the afternoon only to end up using the biggest bore they have in their multipart kit, might as well get a single big bore barrel and be done with it, its true they will not be as accurate as the berrels matched exactly to the paint but then have your first barrel break and all that accuracy just went right out the window. Within reason the eyes will stop the majority of breaks so removing the barrel issue will remove 99.9% of breakage issues

Respect to Funky and Deadeye, the big bore theory is a killer idea.
Frog, you forgot to grab my Freak kit off me...

JJJ

Except some paint is too small to use the biggest bore. Its a good general rule of thumb except when you get the smaller paint.

Electrofunkster
13-12-2004, 09:53 AM
why would some paint be TOO small ... the idea is the paint is supose to be smaller than the barrel ... ??

How can you not love the Timmy?

I think what JJJ was getting at was a significant loss of efficiency if your paint is a lot smaller than the bore size.

i usually match my paint and then go a size or 2 bigger to allow for weird shaped balls

even with .684 sizeish small paint..still use a .693 or or .695.
