How about a field rating?
To be objective a standard list of criterias could be developed (ie Safety, quality of facilities fields etc)
Each field could then gain a rating. This would help raise the quality of fields in Australia as fields stive to get the best rating.
Food for thought
Picture Gallery and a results database would be great Bill...

I did consider a rating system in the past but knocked it on the head because of the difficulty in consistantly rating fields for safety and quality accross the country unless the same person visited each one.
If I could find a reliable way of doing this I would do it.
However, I could expand the directory database so that various extras can be added to listings, such as number of fields, type of fields, marker types, proper toilets, walkon or bookings only, air available, showers, canteen, location map etc.
Possibly even downloadable brochures.
Would this be worthwhile?

Bandwith would be bugger all in comparison.
I could lock it down to logged in members if it ever became an issue.
There has actually been a gallery here for a couple of months, but its unreleased untill I sort out a couple of permission issues.
I will bump this to the top of the list since it seems to be the most popular want.

Are people prepared to supply reviews?
I dont have the time or resources to do so myself.

A reviews page wouldn't REALLY be that hard to get up would it?

Probably not.
There are plenty of scripts floating round, shouldant be too hard to modify one to do what I want.

I think an objective (non Subjective) rating system would remove the need to have one person audit every field.
For example the field operator would supply documented or photographic evidence of the following (After all it would be in their interest to have their field rated highly)
Public Liability insurance, Range licence, Number of fields, Type of fields, Marker types, Goggle Types, Proper toilets, Walk-on or bookings only, Air available, Showers, Canteen, Location map, BBQ Facilities, Web Site, Training system for refs Etc etc
Each of the above could be rated on weighted scale to give an overall result.
As the results would be posted publicly any one stretching the truth would be easily found out
What do you think?
