Hey guys im really new to this whole thing but i played skirmish and i am fully hooked. I am going to buy my own googles and after reading what u guys have said i know which ones to buy however when it comes to buying a marker i am interested in the pro stock by WGP. what are your views on this marker and would it suit me if i eventuially wanted to get into tournaments. i am sort of a sucker for a good looking peice of equipment so what are your views on a good set up at a reasonable price....?????

yeah man why not, Cockers are cool and by now good entry markers.
You can tune the shit out of them and if you feel it's timefor something else, sell it and get something else later.

Mate go with something out of the box and ready to go like a Cyborg. $2k should get you there complete, and it is easy to get and minimum upgrades if any needed at all. And a top end marker.
Other than my personal opinion get out to tournys and ask to have a go at different markers, its the best way.
All the best with shopping.
Hey dude. I was in the same boat as you not too long ago :D
Cockers are good, they are damn accurate and have lots of things you can screw around with to get them how you like.
The advice i was given when i started was to make sure that you got something with an "eye" and something that you were happy with and not just buying cos you could afford it. Worst thing you could do would be to spend all your cash on a marker to find out a few games later you dont think its what you need to play at that level. Personally i think that this was really good advice and obviously depending on your budget, i would recommend the same.
Have a good look around before you buy. Whatever marker you get you will need to add close to 1k to it to get your goggles, pods, pack, squeeges, hopper, bottle, marker bag etc, depending on what your tastes are will obviously vary the amount you have to spend.
Check out www.paintballshop.com.au, they carry a lot of goodies and will be able to help you out with any questions that cant be answered here, just watch out for that Mike guy......
By the way, Shockers are good, no matter how much debt they put you in

The dragun t.e.s is a goood entry level marker and in a package deal you cant go wrong.
Yep there alright for what you pay for them. Theres no point going out and spending close to $2k on a gun then a few months down the track you find that paintball is not to your liking (not that you shouldn't :D ) so have a look around and find out what it best for you

All good advice, but ignore Deadeye. :yell:
You have many options on what to buy as a marker, but you will have the same core equipment regardless of what fancy marker you have.
1. Hopper, airsystem, mask, pods and harness ( pay the extra $50 for a 4500psi tank)
then comes the greatly debated
2. THE Marker and barrels etc
The outlay to get all at the same time is HUGE, yet its a great bargaining tool.
If you don't ask for a discount you will never get it...ask.
With a good airsystem you can put that on a $180 to $2800 marker.
A good mask will last years, pods last until they break, and a harness.. ask players to try theirs on.
I love my Mantis, but after a day's play it hurts my back... I need something to hold my belly in and back straight.
A hopper - motorized - spend the $$$ there. An egg2 $~170 is great except keep a spare neck in your kit, HaloB $200 variants are great yet keep a spare shell handy, RevX's $95 are slower and more reliable when mistreated - just don't overfill them incase of burnouts
Don't try to compete with the likes of some paintball ponies, $1800 is a decent lunch for some people.
Either buy your first marker to eventually be your backup, or buy a tourney one that works.
Deadeye passed his "fire bug" to me and I always have something bursting into flames at Tourney's now.
My first marker was a cocker, its great, but it's heavier except for the new 1/2 blocks and require alot more maintence than the 03 Shocker. The shocker requires lubrication just as much as the Cyborg.
On 2k3 and older Cockers, bits always seem to unscrew, and cleaning a paint break is a bitch.
I now like my markers small fast and pert, just like my wife  .

Its all going to come down to personal preference mate, what state are you in? Cos your best bet would be to swing out to your local and see if you can maybe take a look at some of these and have the features shown to you or even better, have a few shots

If you're in Brisbane, take a scenic drive out to Samford and talk to Gav, he'll sort you out in regards to what's good.
While you're there, drool over his Supair setup.
