I've never really noticed until i got my matchstik with the 3 different sized backs.. but all of the paint i've used has been .693 ( largest bore ).
There's not much variance between the different brand's i've shot down here in terms of size.. RPS Starball, ZAP Premium, Marbellizer etc.. ( that green stuff that was at clackline for WOTS #1 with the green glitter sparkles in it.. )
Maybe the range isnt as wide down here, or we dont get the small bore paint.. who knows..
Do any of you guys know if the small stuff really does shoot " Like Dart's " ? Does it make a difference ? I know if your paint/barrel match is good - and the paint isn't egged to crap.. it shoot's alright.. But i'd be keen to hear of peoples experiences..

Most paint here seems to fit nicely into a .689. In the states sounds like they get paint thats a little larger like low 90's but could be wrong. The largest back for the Matchstik is .693 too.

we get a large range of paint in sydney from really fat rec ball to very small fragile brittle stuff that would breach break in anything med-hi pressure .. it wouldn't shoot in anything except shockers and low pressure cockers .
the only reason to get really small paint is to get the shell thinner and brittler I'll post a pic of a really brittle shell that has cracked instead of burst when dropped ..

here you go
I have'nt used a .693 yet, mostly .689 - .684 on Zap Chronic and Spank, Severe Cyclone, Rps allstar marbelizer and others. I found the Severe paint was around .684-.685 last time i was shooting it.

calling all kodos! shouldnt it be calling all kodos'!
Severe used to be a very small size but they had numerous complaints overseas and they made it a bit bigger

So does anyone have any recomendations on what is good paint and what is bad? Like are there some paints I should really steer clear of and some that I should be trying to get?

basically you get what you pay for..
I was sayin that cause he used "all" when calling he implied that there was more than one of you, hence the kodi or kodos'

Agreed Jamie cheap paint is just that, buying good quality will cost you but it's worth it.
As for the plural of Kodos, personally i like Kodi

Unless the box specifies the calibre, you wont be able to tell the difference between to different balls by looking at them, 30 microns is not visible to the nakes eye

or you can just use the electrofunkster method.
what fits in his mouth is ok.
what doesnt fit in his mouth is bigger than a bowling ball. you know that much..

Not a big fan of that method, besides paintballs and its paint taste shit, might need a  to get rid of the taste.
Does he test everything by that method? if it fits in his mouth then its good ?

Buy a micrometer.
Or a Freak kit
I would be very suprised if you saw a box that had the exact calibre of the paint inside basicly they all say .68 then its up to you to decide which barrel you use hence why we have different bore sizes.

Your better off buying a Freak or Matchstik kit, micrometers are way too expensive, as they are a precision instrument

I totally agree, it would cost the companys way too much money to create every ball with a greater degree of accuracy so they were all the same, and it would be impossible to make them all the same. Therefore using a different bore size is the answer

Just coz ur related somehow by blood or association, shouldnt justify your actions.
Because he/she did it or is doing it, entitles me to do it; sorry my friend it doesnt work that way.

Get a digital set of vernier calipers to check sizes if you cant afford a freak kit. I bought one for less than $80.00.
I've seen paint from as small as .674 to as big as .712. You couldn't even shoot it through a 10 year old VM68 barrel that has been used as a rental for its whole life. They kept on getting stuck halfway down.
like john said 8 inch digtial veriers are not that expensive an outside micrometer would prop crush the ball therefore giving a false size. Micrometers are not that expensive the digital ones are though but you get what you pay for. if you dont know the size of your barrel you can use a t gauge and outside mic to give you a precision measurement .

just get a freak or kaner or whatever barrel ystem that floats your boat and match the paint to your insert/back,if you dont like that get one of the ball sizing templates that someone was making

I've got one - but wouldn't it be easier to just put a ball in the back and try to blow it through ? If it doesn't go maybe try a larger bore ?
Just a bit easier than spending $80-
- Euk.
you are correct and to the point euk... as pballs are not perfectly round it is the easier and more reliable method
