View Full Version : Bottle Fiasco?

There has been a lot of information and mis-information about HP bottle legality on this site. All MacDev customers should read this:
http://www.macdev.net/au/HPlegal.htm
MacDev bottles have always had Workcover approval - I am not certain about why Mike and others have said things ranging from "they are legal" through "I would be shocked if they weren't legal" to "they are definately not legal". Nothing has changed - the bottles have always had Workcover approval and are thus legal.
Because we value our customer satisfaction, we have decided to have documentation produced as proof of legality for each individual MacDev bottle in Australia. For this, we will require all MacDev bottles to be sent back to the factory to be processed. All bottles will be returned free of charge and regulators will be serviced while in the factory. All cylinders will be turned around quickly (approx 3-5 days).
After reading peoples posts about the SouthPacs, I have seen some statements that are incorrect. Worksafe QLD DO NOT require a design verification number (as required in other states) they only require a Australian Test Station Mark.
I received the first phone call from a customer concerned about this issue this afternoon. If some of the guys on here had of picked up the phone earlier they would have known all of this weeks ago (this information is not new).

Good work James. All people need to do is RING the people who know and not listen to people who think they know. QLD legality should be directed to William (Bill) Hunt Sea-Lab Systems PTY LTD 34b Chester St Fortitude Valley Ph: 3252 7383 as i have said b4 Bill is on the Standards Aust commitee and HE KNOWS HPA.

It's what we were after. Doumentation !!
It's what some have been saying on Bill's for months - but you wouldn't wade in and state your case.
Thanks

With all due respect Hideous, have you ever considered pestering MacDev themselves first (i.e. contacting the manufacturer of your product) instead of waving your arms madly about in Bills? As I recall from your posts, you had contacted nearly everyone EXCEPT Mac Dev.

Yes i did consider calling the company.
I will keep my answers to the point.
1. The WC documentation is suppose to be supplied with each sale.
this wasn't done
2. The cylinder may have been marked to prove this
this wasn't done
This whole issue of cylinders could have been stopped months ago if Macdev had piped up and concurred to what we have been saying.
this wasn't done
At any stage Macdev could have helped us out with the information to
1. counter the claim that WC number have to be on a bottle
2. informed us that QLD does not require Stamps only documentation
this wasn't done
My question to you is why am I the boogie man when I did supply AS information in the myriad of air system questions we have been pestered with
online.
I made a mistake (before I pulled the cover off my bottle) that I would have the necessary WC information on it, or in my documents.
What would have happened if 1/3rd to 1/2 of the South Pac players found out - on entry that their air system wasn't as per WC and Organisers rules
and told you your air wasnt to be filled? Betrayed ? Angry ?
At the last moment you would have been unable to play... make your judgement there.
It is now sorted.
As I have stated in previous posts - there is nothing illegal about imported bottles or using them without that undewrwrap WC number ( that is an easy check at Tourney's )- Macdev do it as proven here, but you do NEED that WC documentation.
There was no misrepresentation here. Have a good read.
As for calling Macdev ?
Why didnt they come forward before hand?
Why did they think they could let this slide?
Why didnt they contact us first?

I think Hideous is a trouble maker and shit stirrer who's only plan was to split the paintball community into little tribe's so we never talk to each other become kings of our own back yard..

I think you just violated Bills' rules.
We talk so we get an understanding what is going on. Time has gone when we just looked after ourselves. We are too small a community.
I have no commerical affiliation with any supplier or manufacturer. I buy from everyone.
When I put my hard earned money down on something I want it correct, I want it right, and what I asked for.
I could have called Macdev, sorted my problem with the cylinder out and left all the other people with Macdev airsystems in trouble with South Pac's organisers, but I chose not to.
I expect James will take great delight in overshooting me. It wont stop me from buying another marker off him, or another airsystem.

Best way to read Hideous's posts...read the first line... read the last line..remember that all in the middle is just meaningless ramble:)
Everyone is entitled to their opinion...
Hideous maybe should have rung Macdev but he did do the right thing by posting it here, how would you have liked to show up at the southpacs only to find you wouldnt be able to get your bottle filled?
I know I would be pissed if someone knew but said nothing!
Macdev are doing the right thing and correcting this small oversight so stop complaining and finger pointing, THAT is what splits the paintball community!
Just my 2cents...
Cya, Neil
Maybe Mac Dev were too busy making there products to come on here and post it or collecting information on the bottle fiasco so they could let all of us know

i was gonna say that Gibb a king in anyones back yard....Qld laws are about 25yrs behind NSW so we will be filling cylinders with a current stamp on it
apparently QLD law also states that the person that owns the cylinder gets charged with having an illigal cylinder not the filling person filling it.
I have only just found out about this so i thought you guys better know
I hope that this solve a lot of our problems for the imediate south pacs but make sure your stuff is tight for the masters cause I am gonna be tough there just be thankfull that it isnt NZ they are worse i hear

As Jamie has said just above Queensland Work safe has a very liberal set of rules covering our tanks up here in Queensland. Basicly No workcover number is required for our tanks. They must still compliy with Australian standards and have a test station number and stamp on the tank. Of course the tank must be within test date and carry reistered test station mark.
So what does that mean to us. Basicly if you present an air system that meets Australian Standards has the test stamp from a reistered test station and that tank is within test dates you will be allowed to use it.
So provided that you haven't let your Mac tank go out of date your Mac tank is welcome at the South Pacs.
Now it is up to you guys make sure that your bottles are within test and that they have their test stamp from a reistered test station clearly visable.
The only thing that he is wrong about is saying we are behind NSW as we all know every thing is better in Queensland, laws, bottle regulations and of course the players.
