Hi guys
Just after a little help with markers, as i am slowly getting into paintball i have pretty much all the gear and at the moment window shopping for a marker.
Just wondering what u guys use, have used and want 2 use and what u would recommend for a newbie, i would like something with a very respectable rate of fire and accuracy.
I have used the angels i like the rate of fire but they break a little bit of paint, i have also used the dye matrix i was pretty happy with that all-round good rate of fire reasonable accuracy and low paint breakage.
Also wondering about regs and bottles and all that stuff i have tried 2 read most of the posts and pick up a little info on the way like co2 compared with just air and high and low pressures and all that sort of stuff.
All advice is greatly appreciated  :respekt:

I use a Racegun Cocker and getting something very juicy soon. I don't wanna say what before I have it, but it's sex.
I used Hammer P, Spyder, Automag, Spearhead Cocker, Stock Cocker, 2x Racegun Spearhead, 4x4 Turbo Shocker, Racegun Stock Cockers, Racegun STO's, X Mag, 2k2 Intimidator, Angel IR3 and maybe something else that I forgot. Yeah I know I am a ####ing show off ;) Have basically touched all the good shit on the fields and shot it.
I still want to get a Matrix (aftermarket or DM4), a Shocker03 since DMan let me touch his S03 at NPF and a Z Timmy (Ground Zero with Clamshell).
There's no such thing as a newbie if you go shopping for a marker. Are you keen on teching it on your own or do you just want to play ?
Basically you can learn how to maintain every marker. I would choose my marker from the pverall performance and personal preferance. To me it's kick, efficiency, feel (very important), electronics (ACE, boards) and aftermarket parts.
But you have to choose on your own.
I dont like Angels, I love Cockers because they're logic. Closed bolt is cool and with an E grip they have the ROF. The new spool valve technology markers as the DM4 the Matrix and the Shockers are rock.
As for high pressure , get yourself a preset. High pressure with 850 psi output or low pressure depending on the marker, with 450 psi output.
Screw co2, if you wanna play paintball go high pressure air.
Hope that helps. Oh and beware, there's shitloads of hype out there, don't fall for it.

Iam a bit like ben here as I have had a few markers in my day, what i look for in marker are:
*eyes to help stop paint breakage at high rates of fire
*feel including recoil,comfort,size etc
*efficiency, how much gas will it use
*Extras, what it comes with, what will be needed to make it a better marker
*quality.is it durable am i gonna snap it if i take a dive
*cost,can i afford it
*how does it rate on the tourny scene not only here but in the states and europe
*does it look good cause if it doesnt i dont want it

Are you keen on teching it on your own or do you just want to play ?

Depends on which reg you mean?? bottles are universal as are dropforwards pretty much. I think Ben was meaning are you interesting in fixing and tweeking your own marker or just in playing (correct me if I'm wrong Ben)

OK with HP air you can have 2 regs, one on the bottle which can be adjustable or preset as well as an inline reg on the marker. Simple ??

HP i am guessing high pressure just wondering what are the adjustments for keeping the pressure up for higher rate of fire or something sorry i havent quite got this far yet Kodos :o

you adjust your air pressure to allow the marker to fire and cycle correctly as well as adjusting your velocity

A Racegun is a very good electronic grip for all Autocockers, giving it the Rateof fire of a high end epneumatic marker and having all the pro's that you have when playing Cocker. Closed bolt, easy maintenance, accuracy (big arguments about whether closed bolt is more accurate as open bolt...), tons of aftermarket parts like no other marker etc etc.

What kodos said. Some markers require more maintenance than others.
I'd love that beer ;)

Gee dude, if you are only around the corner from us then pop in and any one of us will gladly go through everything you need to to know and answer any questions you may have.
If you come out on any Sunday arvo you can see most the cool toys in action (no pun intended, well maybe just a little one) and talk to a lot of the guys themselves in relation to their different toys. This way you will get lots of different opinions and you probably even get a chance to shoot a couple as well.

a very confusing thing is the closed bolt and open bolt systems,I am not to sure how to decribe it,i will try and find a link or something

A blow back gun uses the gas not only to propel the ball forward, but also to propel the bolt back. It is simple & robust, but makes for a loud and clunky action.

ah thats a neat way of explaining it...i knew you were good for something sonic
I think www.warpig.com has the tests on closed or open bolt

Um, I would probably argue on that one..
if you're shooting stock standard on co2 - yeah... right on the money.
If you've played with your springs, tricked the bolt - and are running hpa with some regulation there... you wont get that " Clack Clack Clack " noise happening.. I would agree though that closed bolt is quieter, but I personally am not a huge fan of the whole setup.. I like to keep it simple - keep it easy.
There's no need to worry too much when your starting out.. as long as it throws paint where and when you need it - dont worry too much..
Your barrel, if it's too short - or has no porting - will bark like a mad dog at rapid rof's - regardless of the type.. and its more pronounced with co2..
Sometime's it's a benefit.. intimidation factor or a decoy.. sometime's you need to 'play silent'..
I've found my spyder imagine to be a bit quieter than timmah's borg' - but then again.. he can go lower than me on pressure.. so the upper hand is there... I'm stuck to about 300-400 psi.. ( for reliable operation )

I was just talking about the block-back action. You can have an open bolt gun and not be a blowback (e.g. Automags-"blow forward"). And besides, all blowbacks are (relatively) crude by design and will always suffer from a larger recoil than more advanced actions.

sonic the airsmith ... but nice to know .. I tend to screw the bottle on fill it up, put paint in it and shoot people ... and leave the tricky stuff to action john

How about coming in to Action this Sunday? There you can ask all the questions you want, and it would be easier to see what you want or need.
