Players that would like to make themselves availble to the Queensland team for the Masters 10 player State of Orign can use this tread as a point of contact and source of info. So if you know that you will be there and are up for a game please let us know.
being a 10 player we need to fill a roster of
4 front guys
3 mid fielders
3 Back Boys
with a reserve or two.
So give it some thought.
There is nothing quite like 20 angery guys with guns running at ach other

hey gav, my name is Nathan Archer from Cairns. i am captain of Team F.R.E.D., we placed third in Ams in townsville and are going to be there in Sydney whether we are playing or not. So if you could use me or any of my team (prolly as front or mid due to lack of b/p/s) that would be a complete blast. thanks
Nathan I am arranging flights to both south pac’s and the masters if you or any of you team needs help let me know
Good to see that you have got the bug

Any and all crackers players will be available to give the State of origin a go. Not sure we'll be playing the 7 man but anyone picked will be there for the 10man. Does anyone have any Ideas on how we'll pick a QLD team? Suggestions?

nominating your self is all well and good but...
in the past players were pick because of there time in the spotlight.that sells a lot of people short. even if some had more skill then others.
we all know there will be more then 10 people down there wanting to play so you need to find a fair way to sort it out.lets find out who they are and go from there!

Stop the clock, lets all have a good look at ourselves,
There might be more than 10 people down at the masters wanting to play, we (Gav & Myself) are taking this very seriously. Lets be real, at any sporting event you have a hundred players wanting to play & represent there state/ country but sadly only a few make the run on side. This is not to discount anybody, however ask yourself some hard questions,
What level have I been playing at,
Can I read a game
What level are my individual skiils at (have I excelled in the eyes of the top australian players)
How often do I train
Do I make an impact when playing better teams
What is my experience
Can I handle pressure games or do I have brain farts when the pressure is on
What is the standard of my gear (marker pack air etc)
Can I play more than one position
Do I play for fun or to win
How ofen do I play
Lets face facts, a lot of people play because they enjoy the game, but few excell at the top level.
I think Gav & myself will be a good judge of what is required of the team, Myself, I have looked at all the NTH QLD players at tourneys, Gav & I between us know all the STH QLD players.
I can't stress enough we are picking a team to win, not just to play. It will be fun to play but it's great to win.
After talking to Mike Whybrew, hopefully this is going to be an anual event, so if you don't make this years side, go out smash a few teams (top teams) & make an impression, there is always next year.
QLD has a lot of good players & a lot of players have made the Australia Dream Team, (which is the top ten players in Australia APPL picked by the players) & on top of that tere are players which have never made the Dream Team which are top line players.
This is not going to make it easy, as I have said before we won't make everybody happy but we will do our best to put a team togeather to win.

Ok now Neil Martin is on board as well to help in the selections. The plan is to between us generate a list of players and aproach them to try out and make themselves available for the comp. As well, it is intended to hold open tryouts for all intersted players. This will happen in both NQ and the SE. It will not be possible to make everyone happy (untill we win  ) all we can do is try an put together the best possible team with the best chance of winning. Try out dates and locations will be posted shortly.
Oh and incase your wondering with 3 selectors even we have to work for a place because if the other 2 don't think we fit the team we will be watching Queensland win from the side line also.
Also Queensland playing tops will be made so we are looking for some help with the design. they will be available to anyone that wants them not just the team but they will be a one off run so keep that in mind and please help out with the design.
Id be happy to organise a website for the players to talk trash to each other on.. :armed:

Hello all
All the QLD selectors will be at the Ipswich tourney (Blacksoil) and the South Pac's, we will be using these two tourneys as a selection process, we (the selectors) can judge players under tourney conditions, especially when they will be playing agaist players which they would be playing against in the State vs State tourney...

Bravo, good thinking...will spectators be judged???

VD won't be playing orange boy for the Queensland team, I was going to give him to the NSW team but most of those guys will be reffing us on the weekend, so I thought I'd loan him to the WA team, nidge nudge wink wink say no more.
VD you know what to do.

Yes spectators will be judged,
if they want a spot on the QLD team and they are just spectators it won't look good in the eyes of the selectors, we are looking for keen players who want to show us how good they can play.

I have been to two of whitey’s training\selection days up hear in north Queensland one in Townsville and the other in cairns and can honestly say that when it comes to paintball this man only believes in one thing and that is wining and any body that thinks that they will be pick just because they think they are friend are sadly mistaken
Looks like the only people that are going to be upset by the selection process are the ones who know they probably won't make the cut. Practice more guys.............................
Whitey and Gav will put together the team that they think will win. As for Barney, he is one of the best players to come out of QLD so he would have to be big odds on getting a jersey in November, but that said if at the try outs he sucks then another will take his place.

But overall it was a dissapiontment on the amout of Queensland teams which where there. Hopefully there will be more Queensland team show up at the South Pac's.
On a special note Stain who hasn't played in two years or more, played exclent ball all weekend (he carried the Funky Squad all weekend).

If all the states would like custom jersies I can have them made at a reasonable price. That is with what ever you want on them. Your own design, names numbers State flag sponsors' logos if you have them etc. Just let me know and I can either give you some templates to look at or you can do one yourself. If anyone is interested I can give you a quote just email me the details or just tell me what you would like and I may be able to help you design it. This is not just for state of origin but also if any teams are interested in getting their own custom jersey/pants, barrel socks, hats etc.
Also can you please send me the entry forms for Blade..............................
