question: are rec players allowed to get painballs from a supplier and use them in a rec game?? or is that not allowed.

and also, why is it the gas bottles must be covered with a tank cover??

 cheers all

I very much doubt that you will be allowed to bring your own paint to a Rec ball day as field owners make some of there profits by selling paint to the punters.

Bottle Covers...? Are you talking about on Marker or Scuba tank covers...?

I am guessing he's talking about HPA cylinder covers (fibre wrap marker mounted)..

Tho, I do have a mate who's mum is a seamstress for a large surfing company and she makes me covers for my BEER KEGS !!!!
Theres nothing like rockin up to a party with a 9kg VT size co2 cylinder and 4 kegs - all with their own color code..

" Ok guys, the green one is a wheat beer - the red is a dark german bock - the yellow is for the sheila's - thats vodka and orange.. ( stay away from that ) - and the blue is Canadian Club and Coke - thats mine ! "

I was considering getting some neoprene covers for my 2 scuba cylinders, just a project thats been put back a bit with my o/seas holiday.. priority low.
tho, I do have some glue - neoprene and a couple of spare hours this weekend..

( Point of note for the original poster too, 'Bottles' hold 1. Milk and 2. Juice - anything that holds a compressed gas is a 'Cylinder' - you will get your knuckles whacked for that normally - not by me, I know what your on about )

Neoprene covers are to prevent the fibre wrap on your HPA ( High Pressure Atmospheric ) cylinder from becoming damaged or unravelled..
Any damage to a HPA cylinder makes it unsafe, it will not pass hydro testing - and no responsible field would fill it - that is an indication of a weak point in the cylinder wall.

Aparently they can be repaired - but its really not worth it - and I wouldnt risk my life attempting or trusting such a repair.

I have seen covers for Co2 cylinders also.. wasnt sure if you were talking about the Co2 or HPA.. I have the impression it was more of a user 'Comfort' than a practical cylinder protection idea..

I personally wouldn't want my Co2 cylinder being insulated - that would cause some bad things to happen - like preventing the cylinder from boiling off the liquid co2 in your cylinder and going into your marker..

If you have liquid co2 in your marker - then your blowing puffs of co2, and that gives you away when your trying to stay tight in on a barricade.. :armed: also for bush players - a cloud of vapor isnt something you want if your trying to hide..

( Now I am planning to use my co2 paintball cylinder for beer serving with my CO2 Regulator ).. Saves me heaps of money in multiple cylinder rental !

Does anyone know if hydro testing is required or capable for ally co2 paintball cylinders ?

Not only do they protect your cylender, but they look cool too!!
