Does anyone know how far Harndorf is from this Field???
Or is there somewhere to stay that is closer???

noduff
27-04-2004, 05:56 PM
Harndorff approx 30 min (very approx)
Please note that the $297 per unit at the Whalers Inn (4 star resort) is for six people per unit, so the cost is a tad under $50 per head. Thats the best I could negotiate based on one cabin. If you were to book on mass, I may be able to get a reduction on price.
Mt Compass Caravan Park has cabins for less $ and is only a 10 min drive from Paintball Sports (PBS) Kuitpo (KPO) field.
Let me know if you want me to get firm prices. Oviously more numbers mean I can negotiate a better price.
Alternatively rough it out at KPO (toilet, shower,BBQ, and shed provided for nicks! - just bring your swag or camp strecher, and sustainence (( or PBS can cater for food etc))
Note: Factor in cool to cold weather in May

Email PBS (admin@paintballsports.com.au) for a map on how to get there

Look forward to seeing you all in SA, on a kick ass grass field.

Regards

No Duff

Can anyone post some very clear directions to the field starting from adeilaide airport:p plz because i have our 5th player flying in on sunday morning arriving at 8am, so we need him at field asap and dont want him getting lost.

If hes late if theres any team div 1 team has a 6th that wants a game in the first round we would be greatful is that within tourny guidelines?? I swear ive seen players switch teams during previous rounds.

Is it possible to make sure effect has the last game in round 1 against whoever we get drawn to play so we have maximum time to get our guy to the field?...thanks

I am sure someone has clear instructions for you. Night Shade have trained down there.

But as if we will make your life any easier. And absolute rubbish that players have switched teams during a round, and the draw is the draw. Plenty of players have played 1 short for a game or two. :fu:

Deadeye
04-05-2004, 07:52 AM
not asking to change draw just have our game last in first round ya knob jockey we still would play the same team just slightly later not going to make a difference to the outcome of the tourny.

remember sappa round three last year we played the first 2 games with 4 players. Rossie's son jumped on for the rest of the day and he hadn't played paintball before..... We were going to play the whole day with 4 players due to matters out of our control.

Technically I dont think that they will be able to give you the last game of the first round because that would be favouratism or could be deemed favouratism by other teams (technically). The draws have always been done at random. If they change them for one team they have to change them for all, no matter what or how good the reason is.

Deadeye

was worth asking:) will just cross fingers and hope that we get a late game.

Aming for about 12 teams (hopefully)
As usual no finals
The Ballistic boys and girls will be making the long trip down to REFF!! Massive respect to those guys.
The field will be the 'scott air' cheers scott.
Look for accommadation at Mt Compass or McLaren Vale only 15min from field.

For those who get confused with maps, head south out of Adel and get on the road to Victor Harbor, Just befor Mt Compass there is a big green sign that says YUNDI RD, turn left there and follow the paintball signs to the field.

The car parking area for the tournament will be through a gate on the right just before the main entrance, drive up the hill and our friendly marshalls will direct you from there.

Lunch will not be provided by the field owner, however there will be a hot food van on site for all your tastebuds, as well as cold drinks available at the spectator/car park area and down on the field.

any other questions post away

k guys here's the scoop :armed:
scott air will be set up from 7am depending how long that takes were aiming for captians meeting at 8.30 first game at 9.

the feild is looking great, be carefull on the drive, if it's wet it will be slippery especially the small bridge you cross just before you get to the field. The car park entrance is just before the main entrance. Hopefully it will be sign posted and have a marshal to guide you. Drive up the hill towards the lovely new spectator area and park behind the netting (leave room for spectators of course) then cast an eye down across one of the best tourney fields in SA.

WALK down the hill to the safety area for registration.
If you want to sit please bring your own chairs - DOH! i know but being a brand new field the benches haven't been made yet.
Tressles will be provided by SAPPA
Air provided by SAPPA
CO2 provided by SAPPA
Lunch will be at your own cost. :( Micheal will be bringing his hot spud van and BBQ, drinks available from the field and car park.
EVERYONE will help with cleaning and deflating of the scott air, with running water at the field and hoses, this should be a breeze.
Presentations will be done AFTER the field is cleaned at Paintball Sports new admin/bbq/toilet/shower facillity just over the hill. (plumbing is being done on friday for this)

I'll keep you posted.

Thanx for a great tourney. Looking foward to seeing you all at Rounds 3 and 4. Got to get some points to catch up to the top leaders. Hopefully the Top 4 teams in AM are all playing and not reffing. Good to see a new team there hopefully there are more at round 3 and 4. Oh and yes Ballistic should be on 12 as well equal with Enigma.

You only get full points for supplying 5 bodies on the day to ref. I'm not sure if they had that many...and I'm sure the powers that be wouldnt/couldnt stuff something like that up;)

Well done to the guys and gals who reffed...a bitch of a job to do...except for that evil Head Ref fellow...where did they find him?;):D

Thanks go to Steve and Peter Duff, and the crew at Paintball Sports..great venue, setup, and weather, which was touch and go early on but came good as the day went.

And to the other teams who played on the day, thankyou for the great day...except Fallout, which was our only blemish on what was otherwise a perfect tourney;) No seriously, you guys know how to play, and we are really looking forward to playing you all again...soon:D

And lastly, thanks to the other guys of Team Enigma, including Brenton, our coach, mentor, inspiration and pod bitch:p:D:D:D

Here here ! ! See what happens when you wear Smart Parts (r) jerseys ?

My thanks to all the SA teams that play and ref, and all the SAPPA organizers.
Without you guys we would be sitting around, drinking beer, painting Deadeye ( tied up to a tree ) here in Melbourne.

It is amazing how everyone's quality of game has risen since even round 4 of 2003. Many thanks to ALL who participated.

Hmmm Yes it's unfortunate I know that mask of yours.

For some reason the Smart Parts stickers wouldn't adhere to the Cyborg.
The red 03 Shocker from hell only dumped its Maxflo in Round 7.

Ballistic receive full points for reffing, however they lost 1 point for only having 4 members reff on the day. Kudo's to those guys and the Damage boys, major kudo's to CDG. First time as head reff i think he did a stand out job. It's not easy.

Awesome tourney guys very well organised and was well worth the trip down even if i did just get home.

Thanks to all the guys that cleaned up the field the days before i know nightshade and damage put in alot of time to fixing it up, much appreciated.

Thanks to the refs awesome job and i can only imagine how hard some of the calls on the day would of been.

Thanks to all the teams that played i had a blast even getting shot was fun.

Also big thanks to paintball sports for letting us use the venue and anyone else i may have forgotten that put in so much time and effort.

One of my 'taunts' may have been something like this (although the DVD should pick it up) ...

"C'mon mate, you know you cant win ... just stick you head out a little, its not gonna hurt much"

That was great game against Enigma .... and everyone was saying "Watch out for Enigma!". I watched alright, i watched real good as i mugged their last player!! :whip:

Special thanks to Adamage, a/President of SAPPA.
I dont think people realise how hard he worked to get this tournament going and how many unforseen barriers he had to overcome.

Thanks guys, your right Adam, it wasn't easy. I got chucked in the deep end and (hopefully) didn't make too many stuff up's. Definately have a deeper respect for head refs and all tourny refs for that matter.

Other than some heated moments I thought the day ran well... everyone seemed to enjoy themselves

But that was half the fun, oops sorry ref !!

Major apologies and sorry to the Ref at the bottom right of the field in the afternoon. :respekt:

They were using you as cover as you wandered between the back upright coke can and the moon. It was you or me, and i couldnt let them move up.

Maybe we should have the team captains for the next game as hanging Judges for onfield disputes and let the ref's do their job.

JJJ
27-05-2004, 09:04 AM
Actually, the SAPPA should maybe look at tightening up on 2 areas that were a concern for me.

1. Was pressure from spectators (other players) on the sidelines that was heaped onto refs during the day.

2. Tougher penalties for players who abuse refs. We should have a zero tolerance on that.

This will happen because of the size of the field too

There was many reasons why they were abused - inexperience.
They were watching the game rather than the players which resulted in cheating. - inexperience

Also players were cheating shamelessly, we dont have to play like Dynasty to win.

The abuse I saw was inexcusable, I would be throwing red cards and game suspensions.

Yeah basically came down to inexperience. Needed to be a bit more agressive and get in there and look or hits. Reffs(Enigma) at R1 where great and wernt afraid to get in there. Just needed to pay a little bit more attention with each ref focussing on one player. If they are hit get in there and rip that armband off, thats what its there for. Anyway good job as watching from the sidelines there where a lot of hard calls. Also would recommend all reffs read the nppl rules or at least appl rules.

Still no excuse though for verbal abuse - players can be unhappy but they themselves are unprofessional to carry on the way they did.

have spoken to Adam about this and I will be organising a SAPPA referees camp sometime between now and the next round, this will not just be for those intending to ref but for all players who wish to get a better understanding of the SAPPA tournament rules, I think you find that any mistakes made were more a lack of rules understanding than a lack of trying. I think Studio 54 mentioned to the committee earlier that there should be a form of tribunal that reviews all cases and video evidence post tourney and be able to warn players accordingly, some of the stuff going on on field recently has been pretty bloody blatant and the penalties are not matching some of the crimes. But its a hard ask, I mean how many players, even those who are fully aware that they are cheating will actually agree with a 1 for 1, let alone not cause 10 minutes of arguing which is difficult for refs to move on especially when there is a schedule they have to stick to. All things considderred I think Chris did a great job keeping cool amongst yelling players and freezing conditions with failing light. top stuff dude!

JJJ
27-05-2004, 03:28 PM
What about player behaviour camp - those who do the yelling at refs and carry on are the ones in need of training.

blacky
27-05-2004, 03:35 PM
yeah true, hopefully the camp will give the refs all the ammo they need to warn or penalise the players accordingly and confidently, I only gave out 2 1 for 1's at round 1 but gave about 30 warnings to players mostly for abusive behaviour

bunkerboy
27-05-2004, 03:45 PM
Name the date of this reffing clinic and Enigma will be there...and JJJ, I'm 100% in agree'ance with your last 3 statements. Clamp down on it before it becomes out of control, train the people who have to enforce the rules, and educate the players about the consequences of their behaviour.

I think the problem is that sometimes as players we think we are the reff's. The only way to remind us is to give us penalties such as 1 on 1's and if we argue make it pts penalties. I agree if zero tolerence was the order of the day we would no longer tell the reff's how to run a game but rather take the call on the chin rightly or wrongly.

Training camps will help for reffing but at the end of the day there will be still calls that ppl don't understand or agree with. All I can say is "build a bridge" and get over it ! its not personal. There are many other sports with Qualified reff's, were ppl can say that the reffing robbed them the game -we are not alone in this.
