I'm new to Paintball (3 rec games) and I'm not going anywhere so I was wondering where I might be able to buy semi paintball markers from. I'm aware of the firearm licence requirement and won't be able to buy one for at least 5 or 6 months but information is always good well ahead of time >; ). Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Once you are licenced there are always 2nd hand registered markers on Bills for sale.... with the current import laws the only way to get a brand spanking new one is through MacDev Paintball Products (http://www.macdev.net/index.htm) in NSW. Hope this helps.

Thanks that helps much better than trawling the net for retailers in Australia anywhere. :) As I'm after a Tippman A-5 looks like I'll probably be buying second hand.

Oh man, u can get better than tippman a5's. Just wait for a while as the importation laws are gonna change & ppl will be sellin their markers & getting their hands on all the ones that they want. so there will be heaps for sale soon.
keep an eye on the for sale section.

ok when laws change then the 2nd hand market should be Cockers & mags on air for well under $1000 or the new marker market is $2000 on air. got to the mac dev site & see what they have & look in the for sale section here & you should do well.
u r obviously looking at getting into the tournie scene, contact Bones in a pm & see if he knows of any teams that want another player & talk to ppl here & see what they think, Go to a training day & have a look at ppls markers & even ask if u can have a go of one. Most ppl are more than willing to help out. U can even drive to Bundy in 2 weeks as there is a tournie there & come & see whats happening

Once you have your own gear Wolfy, you can buy your paint in bulk and save$ make sure you try lots of different markers before you buy one. Where abouts are you based in QLD? Keep an ear out for a training run as its the best time to ask plenty of Q's when everone is takeing it easy and not too serious.

The best way would be to go to a tourny up there and annoy Knackers so much that he will introduce you to everyone. Ask everyone on what they think of whatever gun you are looking at. I'm sure most people will let you have some shots from their marker so you can see what works for you and what doesn't. Just don't shoot Knackers mag, no matter how good he say's it is it's just not worth shooting. :p
Usually there are several guns for sale at tourny's aswell. Don't just jump in and buy one straight away, make sure you are comfortable with how it works, how easy is it to fix, how easy is it to clean, can I still get parts, how it shoots. All guns shoot different.
Buy one that suits your style of play. If you sit up the back you will probably want a larger tank and longer barrel. If you are a front player, probably a smaller tank and shorter barrel so you can tuck in easier.
If you ask i'm sure some players will let you have a game or two with their marker so you can see how they shoot on the field.
Anyway that's enough from me. I think it's my longest post ever actually.

Yeah Wolfy if you come to a training day or tourney i'll let you have a shot of the E-Orracle, i haven't had one person hate it yet.
