View Full Version : Offset Drop Forward

I have noticed that on most of the dropforwards that the hole alignment is straight, while on some markers ( i.e. spyders ) the hole alignment is diagonal..
Is it simply a matter of drilling a hole in the frame of the marker ( which i dont really want to do to my nice new marker - that, and If the hole expands it will ruin the entire grip frame as the holes will be REALLY tight and close together.. which means you just cant just helicoil the hole ) or is there a special adaptor ?
I dont really feel like butchering a nice Drop or an electronic grip frame in the hope it might work.. dont want it to get a ghetto mod look either..
I have even contemplated removing the ASA and expansion chamber ( now that I am running hpa ) and going via stainless remote direct to the marker.. it however looks a bit funky and throws the weight forward on the marker which gives you a sore forearm after a couple of rounds..
I think I am going to have to post a pic to explain what I have actually done..
Suggestions ?

You can buy drop forwards with the diagonal holes allready in them just for this problem. Don't drill the frame, why drill or modify a very expensive part when you can mod a cheap old drop forward or in this case buy what you need.

Go to www.ppba.com.au
or http://www.ppba.com.au/DropForward.htm
there's a Spyder Adapter Block that allows you to use a normal bottomline on your Spyder. $20.00
Best way.

Well there's another option, grab a piece of 8mm ally and make a little adaptor that screws up to your frame and has two tapped holes 3/4 inch apart to screw a standard drop forward up onto. Anno it black and it'll even look sweet.

Will 8mm ally be strong enough to hold a bottle ?
I have muzza's old HPA bottle.. its an air america 3000/88ci bottle..
I guess I could always make 2 and leave 1 spare for game day ! :)
Thanks for the idea gav !

8mm will last forever dude, you just counter bore the diagonal holes to suit the two 10 x 32 UNF screws and drill and tap the two straight holes. If you want I'll make one today for you. I've got all the gear here at home.
I might even post some pics.

Here's a pic for everyone to look at, you clowns.
Not the best quality pic though.
Euk, don't go shooting around building sites, especially right now as it's in the works to become legal, plus it's just not cool.

Yeah, I was thinkin that too.. all shiny !

Ek, I can host your pics if you email em to me.
Big Gav, I've just tried to get three different brands of spyder adapters from the states and they're all out of stock.
How could I motivate you to make up 2 more of those useful glittery bits?

I have drop forwards in stock that have all the holes for Spyder and normal guns.
Call if you still need one. 02-9679-0011

No no, I'm not after a drop forward.
I have a maxflow air system to connect to the bottom of the trigger frame.
All I need is two 9mm thick bits of alluminium with 4 holes in each.

Thats great mate - the postage is always a pisser around xmas anyhow.
My only concern with using a drop forward over an adapter block, is the drop forward will reduce the overall marker length.
We have restrictions of 75cm here in Qld...

We're specifically after the Spyder Block though ... as apposed to the Drop Forward mentioned in the thread. But if it does the same job and it meets the QLD restrictions ... sweet.
