FIRESTORM and PAINTBALL PETE invites your team to attend two days of BUSH, BARRICADE and SUP-AIR field games.

The 1st and 2nd of November 2003

-5 Player tournament
-BYO PAINTBALLS
-RULES WILL BE APPL STANDARD
-CUP AND PLATE FORMAT DRAW WILL BE USED.

Well at this stage not many teams have confirmed there attendance, but what the heck right a cheque.
We are still going ahead with it though.
I had a call from Action Paintball the other day and it is not looking good for any team that stables there, i could tell you the tale but i probably would leave a and or a but out and get it wrong so you guess for yourself which is unfortunate.
Last count we are up to 9 teams
So if you want to play and dont have a marker to play at Mt White we have a few to chose from.

Sorry Pete and Peter, but if I don't want to risk losing my licence and the livelyhood of me and my staff and you don't like it, tough !

For the record, (when he rang me) I offered Peter Russel $500.00 towards what ever charity (heart foundation etc) he was using for the Andrew Hookem Cup on behalf of Action Paintball Games as a show of support, but he informed me that the full entry is for Peter himself, well $1100.00 per 5 man team in entry fees for a tourny not even held at a stadium. No wonder Peter is upset that I am not bringing all my teams.

There was a very good reason that we had cancellled all our events for the rest of the year and are not running or playing in any tournaments in NSW until further notice. We do not believe it is a good idea to do so untill our laws are fixed up. If you know different then let me know in writing please.

Big P, before you go off half cocked get all the facts , then you might not look like such a tosser. In Australia no body has supported the sport of paintball with their own time, manpower and money more than me, so if you think that your stupid statements are going to change any decisions I make just to prove that we are not scared of playing you guys then you are obviously also an idiot. I love paintball and paintball compettitons and I certainly want to be able to continue playing paintball in the future. Our gun laws especially in regards to paintball in this country (in particular NSW where they are still a prohibited weapon the same as a machine gun) are nothing short of stupid.

To all the teams that turn up and play at the Andrew Hookem Cup I wish you all a great trouble free fun weekend of paintball. Good luck to all!

Just thought I'd jump in here and say a few things quickly.

Firstly. The APPL wishes Peter the best success for his tournament. Many of the players who will be there are APPL members, and we wish them also a fantastic tournament.

Secondly Pete, I was unaware of the $500 dollar donation, but on behalf of the APPL and it's members that's awesome mate we really can use the money.

Thirdly, Michael has told me why he doesn't want to take teams to Peters event, and I have to say his own legal advice was against going. In this very pathetic legal environment, (everyone pray the federal laws are changed soon as has been indicated by the Customs Ministers office) It is wrong to be critical of someone who wishes to not jeapordise their livelyhood, remember Michael doesn't run another business on the side, paintball is his life. Literally.

Believe me it burns him not to be able to shoot at the guys going. A sad situation.

For everyone out there, Michael and Action Paintball Games gave the APPL another $800.00 donation more than 2 weeks ago to cover the remainder of our outstanding insurance, despite the fact that Action Paintball Games will not see any of this money coming back, deciding that it is more important to look after the players association especially under the current, extremely difficult conditions. They did not make a big deal out of it either, they just did what it required, and no one from the committee asked Michael to either.

I know Michael is an honourable man. As I said before he lives for paintball and the competition scene, and the current situation really does burn him. Make no mistake, he lends every effort to seeing the laws changed all over Australia and his and all our efforts will see these changes happen.

As with his and Pete's post I think if we were talking face to face we would all interpret what was said diferently.
I took BigP's post as part smacktalk but mostly tongue in cheek. BigP is a great guy and I personaly know him as a serious paintballer and a bit of a larikin. After all he has organised at least 2 Rotoura events.
Ok maybe the :fu: was a bit strong but lets take a step back, take a chillpill and lets get on with getting the federal laws changed.

No Crazy, it upsets me I can't go. period! I know exactly how Big P meant it, he made it very clear, even to the point of repeating himself three times in the one post, but I am sure he will get over it.

I have a huge paintball shop that supplies a large percentage of Australias paintball players and I would be sellling a heap of paint, at least to all the teams that I would be bringing to Mount White. I would not have to spend a cent or do any work in setting up the event, I don't need to get accomodation and I don't have to be away from my kids. It is just a 40 minute drive...... very convenient all round. Can you see how stupid this whole thing is.

Since the demise of the tourny scene the concept of a fully stocked paintball shop in Australia has become almost a waste of time.

Tyddy, in NSW we are licenced to use our markers on our field only. Firearms has let us get away with it in the past, but have now told me this is not an optiom anymore.

I nearly lost my licence (yes full police investigation and all ) late last year doing a charity event on the channel 9 Footy Show for which I only got into trouble because of a couple of other paintball operators who complained to the Firearms registry and the wrote letters to the Attorney General stating that what I had done was illegal, so now I am not able to risk a second offence. I would lose everything.
If I was to bring paintball guns on my licence to another field and one of these dickheads were to make a complaint in advance then it would be so easy to put me out of business. Oh and before you ask I will be attempting to get the turds details through the freedom of information act and will put their names up here for all to see.

And lets face it the more teams that go the more he has At his disposal. And i have known pete long enough to know he aint trying to line his pockets.
If he wanted to do that he would run groups instead of putting on a tourney in memory of Andy.
