I am looking at filling my own tanks at home with CO2.
Can get large CO2 bottles with 5% argon (used for welding I think).
Is that the stuff to use? I think they are "GS" bottles.
Will the argon matter and if so can you get just Pure CO2.

Anyone experienced in this matter?

Cheers

Just go to your local BOC shop and get a bottle of Industrial CO2. If they carry food grade then you can get that aswell, it's cleaner but more expensive.

You will want to get a liquid withdrawal bottle. The type with the tube inside the tank to get to the liquid (it will have a black stripe down the side), otherwise you will have to turn the bottle upside down.

The sizes you can get are D,F,E,G. D is the smallest and the G is the biggest.

Don't forget to weigh your bottle when you fill it. DO NOT overfill it under any circumstances. They have weights on the bottles for a reason. It's your safety they are thinking of.

Cpt.Krunch!!!!! did you really just say"otherwise you will have to turn the bottle upside down" That's a paddeling.

Do not invert a supply tank to draw liquide. Dropping it on it's valve will wreck your day! If you fail to respect compressed gases it can KILL YOU.

Use FOOD GRADE CO2 (BOC code: 082) size GE (chest high) fills say 50 12oz tanks size EE (waist high) about 30ish It just depends on if its dead empty each time and how much gas you dump chilling bottles.

Hudson do you need a run through to fill them?

um yes gav you are correct if you are inexperienced with compressed gases get someone to teach you first:D
they are very unforgiving and will kill you if you dont respect it:D
I would stick to the liquid withdrawal cylinders as well
use the proper tools for the job

Well Considering my nearest field is an hour and a half away, and I can't always get out there because of work etc, my friends and I in town would still like to play socially togerther during the week on one of our farms that we have set up.

Thats if it's alright with you!

We have only played a couple of times with rentals but now that we have our own markers we are looking to play/train socially......but don't worry we we still go the fields when we can.

Cheers

Right on THC...................................this sort of activity should not be encouraged at all......use your toys at your fields only , think of everyone else in the sport not just yourselves.

SAFETY IS FOREMOST in our sport, on and off the fields, and lets not use the international teams as role models in this respect in my opinion alot of top players are extremely unsafe and slack as far as safety goes.

I don't kinow whats goin on in Aus at the moment, but the newbie factor is a little bit of a worry factor, lets all us experienced players get on it and start taking more of an interest in the youngbloods and keep our sport safe, it seems to me we don't have much of a choice we are getting more and more new dudes in all the time and I guess they all need the educating we all once got.

Damned newbies, some of em can play real good too!!!!

Dudes......I think you are way too strung out!

Firstly THC I believe that this forum is the "help" forum where people can ask questions to try and gain some knowledge about this sport.

I have simply posted a question about setting up a refill station and what people recommend.
Now most people have been able to supply me with useful information without rudeness or sarcasm.
You on the other hand seemed to be very knowledgeable in the art of paintball but seem to be lacking in the reality of common courtesy.
I can see reason in some of your arguements and agree with what you are saying......I just don't agree with the way you say it.

Your attitude probably does more harm to this sport then anything else.

If you have anything constructive to say I am more than willing to here it.

I was going to say this eairler but didn't.

I believe that it is infact illegal to use paintball markers, whilst not within the premisis of a approved licenced gallery.

like others have said don't bring our sport into disrespect. you wanna keep playing, i do, so does everybody else.

What I think alot of ppl are worried about is some newbie comming allong getting their hands on a marker somehow, cranking the velosity up to the hilt & shooting one of his mates....if he has no mask on just think of the ramifacations of this action.

we all have at least $3000 tied up in this sport & we love playing, talking & living paintball. We all get very protective over what we may loose if some minless idiot just comes allong & stuffs it for us all. (by the way im not calling you that) Paintball is a controlled game in a controlled enviroment with controlled rules.
just one newbie with a pump can stuff that for us all. you just have to understand why we get protective over our sport.

What you are all saying is correct and I agree with it 100%.
The last thing I want to do is bring disrespect to this sport or in any way inhinit the process everyone is going through over here in WA to get it legalized.

Obviously with the right eductaion and training as well as some commen sense, I believe home refills and social training could be done in a safe environment.

But don't worry! I havent even bought the gear yet and am going to hold off for a while now anyway to get a bit more experience and knowledge of all the factors involved!

Thanks for everyones input (good or bad)

Geez these forums are intense!!!!!!!!

Hudson,
You can actually play paintball on a privately owned piece of land and run around and mark people with a paintball marker providing you are not doing it to profit from it. Providing you own lets say 200 acres or more !!!!And you are far away from your neighbours !!!

Oh YES by all means please follow all the saftey rules involved in playing, like all the other people say safety is number one !!!!!

Dont #### with it !!!!!

Enjoy !!!!!!!!
