I have noticed on another thread about making or re-conditioning a marker.. which made me think..

I have a spyder SE compact which is pretty much tricked ( as much as you can for a spyder.. ) but the anno is original, that is - green and black splashing..

Which, to be honest - is a little boring..

I am wanting to know, how hard - and how involved is it to get a professional annodiser to re-anno my marker ? whats involved.. and roughly how much would it cost.. a single color, or even just a chrome look would be fantastic.. I know what annodising is, and how it's done.. but finding someone who can do some nice work is pretty hard..

What do you guys think about gold ?

thanks !

Well, seeing as no one offered any advice on how to diy.. I went and got a crash course in anodising..

To start, the item needs to be bathed in a caustic solution to remove the microns of metal which contain the anodising color, then the item needs to be polished ( buffed ) with a buffing wheel, the item is then annodised again.. and if you want a color it is let to sit in an anodising bath for about 24 hours or so..

Just incase anyone was wondering..

three things you cant do..

1. Any previously painted surface.
2. Any item that isnt an aluminium alloy product
3. Any item that isnt impeccably clean, imperfections will occur from oils and greases..

* Chris I have to say gold is a good colour for a spyder, as my spyder "007" has been anodized gold . The only problem is she needs more than a new paint job she needs an electronic frame just so I can keep up with Hellspawns 13+bps spyder, Have to admit though they re the best longballing gun :armed: Ive shot!!!! came in handy last appl tourny for those campers up the back ;)

Do you have a source for said upgrade ?

I am looking hard for one atm.. locally of course..

I agree totally with the longballing statement, mine shoots straight for a helluva distance..
