Ok, so in the US, if I'm over 18 with a clean record and obviously can afford to buy it, I can own a rifle that is reputed for putting holes through cars and planes.
But because I live in Australia, I can't even think about getting a barrel shroud for my A5 to make it look in part like a MP5K.
So basically, one of the above mentioned countries has got it all wrong. I leave it up to you to decide which.

At the risk of starting up a gun debate, I would suggest America has it wrong...

i think 50 cals are banned in california - arnies crew brought it in out of fear that a 50 cal would be used against air traffic.

Not sure if they are banned here. They make bolt action 50's to there would have to be a firearms reg preventing guns above a certain calibre. Other than cannons, i'm not sure maximum calibres are regulated with longarms.

well in NSW im pretty sure that if you have your Cat A and B you can have just about anything. you just cant have it with a mag of more than 6 rounds. Some of the rifles i can get are ridiculous. does anyone have the link for that vid as i cant seem to play it.

A couple of years ago Fisher Firearms in Adelaide had a 50 BMG bolt action (cannon) rifle for sale, brand new, $10,000 even. each round worked out to about $5-00 each. Apparently they are good for dropping ferral cammels and donkeys at 1500 metres. Also because of their mussel break they kick less than a 308/303.

Hey isn't this a paintball site?!?!

They use mollusc's these days to reduce recoil? That's pretty cool:yes:

Probably get some hot, nubile and sexually experimental chick to take my place. Sure, you'd be sacrificing the opportunity to laugh at my over-zealous and foolish moves out in the scrub, but somehow methinks you would all find a way to deal with it.

yes i have read about the argument.

Must have been about 200AD when they wanted to ban arrows.
1300AD when they wanted to ban swords over a certain length.

Its only in this nationalist socialit country of Australia have they succeeded in banning weapons because 1. they look nasty or 2. someone misused one so the other 20 million of us are punished.

50 cal.. not a problem calibre to own except to feed it. Surplus cases and $2-5 per projectile.
