As the year of 2006 draws to an end, what better way to reflect on this season’s tournaments. With over 34 tournaments* held across the country, the scene would appear to be more alive than ever.

Division 2
----------
Taktix - 2 x 1st
Invasion A - 2 x 1st

Division 1
----------
Cyclone - 2 x 1st
Gravity 1 - 2 x 1st
Marksmen - 2 x 1st

Semi-Pro
--------
Gravity - 1 x 1st
X-Fighters - 1 x 1st

Pro
---
SWAT - 4 x 1st
Welt - 4 x 1st
Menace - 3 x 1st
X-Fighters Red - 2 x 1st
X-Fighters Black - 1 x 1st
X-Fighters - 1 x 1st

February saw Aussie paintball get our own official Paintball Magazine called APM and it has been well received through-out the year.

In March, the AXL announced the production of their first official DVD, which was released in August. Hopefully, we'll see more of this in 2007. The AXL also had issues in August, with their 3rd round cancelled due to the event, not being able to comply with firearms regulations.

Speaking of media coverage, in April, Samford Skirmish in QLD, had their 4play tournament series broadcasted on local TV station - Briz31. Great to see Aussie paintball on TV.

In July, thanks to the crew at Velocity (and others), we saw the launch of Reballs available for use, with mixed reactions from players.

Also in July, paintball’s number 1 player and all around nice guy, Ollie Lang came downunder for the 2nd year in a row, to run a clinic at Velocity. We also read in a PGi interview that Ollie's favourite dessert is pavlova. Aussie players also got a chance to get schooled in November, at the Eclipse clinic run by Thomas "Troll" Taylor (XSV) and Bea Youngs (LTZ Destiny).

Good and bad news in 2006, we saw the closing of Velocity (very sad day indeed) in September and in October, Action Paintball announced the planned opening of the new field at Canoelands, to be used at Masters 2007.

NSW also had news in October from the Police Ministers Office advising that the legal age for paintball (in NSW) will be lowered to 16 years.

So, what was your favourite paintball moment in 2006 ?

* PS. If we're missing some results, let us know and I'll update it.

Not to blow our own trumpet but for me and our team it was the realisation of something we had worked hard at for a very long time - the opening of MIP. Many players are probably unaware of the extraodinary effort required to get any field open but i'm sure all other field operators here will understand what i mean. Indoor probably takes it up a notch again. Of course we didn't do it out of the kindnest of our hearts (it is a business after all) but we will help develop a lot of new interest in paintball in Vic in 2007+

So many thanks to all of the people that helped get us going, provide their feedback, support and resources. Our staff, all the crazy members and those from PPC, Neil, Dianne & James, Ian at action and Steve cauchi.

Hope to see you all in 2007.

PS - Goals for Vic 2007

1. Bring a sh$t load of people into paintball that would have never otherwise seen it.
2. Reball (maybe March)
3. Age limit to 16 (??)
4. Mutual recognition of interestate paintball licenses (maybe March)

A lot of blood sweat and tears, not to mention personal sacrifice and a ton of cash goes into getting a paintball field open. Good luck to you guys, I hope you introduce thousands of new players into our sport.:respekt:

Action wishes you every success......

Would you believe it W.A. even played paintball this year.

4 x rounds of the W.O.T.S. Series
- 3 x at W.A.S.P. Probably the best all round tourny venue in Australia.
- 1 x at McCalum park on perth foreshore Probably the most public tourny and entertaining venue in Australia. Probably the most public event. 32 teams.
5 x rounds of the 3man comp at Paintball Skirmish
1 x tournament Held at Serpetine "The Serpi Classic" Excellent venue, excellent turn out.

PLUS I think there is a Paintball League around here somewhere.

@DemonAce ... Div 2 is also known an Amateur, which I believe thats why it was listed as such.

@Mike ... didn't know about the Townsville one, and that was my mistake missing out your Round 1 result. That would make it 4 x 1st including the Townsville one. I'll just fix that up now.
